Hotel Listel Inawashiro Wing Tower
4.3/540 Reviews
I stayed here for 10 nights over Christmas whilst visiting my daughter who is working as a ski instructor at Inawashiro Global ski school. I was a little disappointed to find how far out of inawashiro the hotel was, but it runs a regular shuttle bus to/from Inawashiro train station and getting to town was straight forward (although it did stop running at 5pm). The twin bedroom I had was very spacious and well equipped. It was cleaned daily (if I managed to get out of bed in time to allow them in..!). You had to reserve a time to eat, both dinner and breakfast which unless you did so early may have made it difficult to get the time you wanted. The breakfast times were too early for my liking, but the restaurant started serving lunch at 11am, so many days I simply had a brunch intead. Lunch was Italian type food and for £20, you could have a gourmet 3 course meal - very good value and very nice. The spa/swimming pool was great and a lovely place to spend a couple of hours. It costs ¥1500 which is fine for a couple of hours and it was only ¥500 for a return visit. The buffet dinner was fantastic and it had something for everyone. Although it was very Japanese orientated (we were in Japan after all) I found it to be fantastic; even my daughter, who is very fussy found plenty to eat. The hotel shop, along with all the vending machines provided all the snacks and drinks you could want and all very reasonably priced. What I would have liked is a bar area to sit and relax in with my book. As I was on my own, not having somewhere to sit and mix with others was disappointing. Maybe it's not a Japanese thing to do.... English is not very widely spoken in this area and even amongst the hotel staff communication was tricky, however Google translate was our savior and with patience and perseverance we always manged to get sorted without too much problem. Regardless of the language barriers the staff couldn't have been more friendly, helpful or polite. I appeared to be the only western person, so perhaps English isn't required much, but if the hotel wants to appeal to, and to encourage tourists from the west, then perhaps this needs a little improvement. Although I was able to travel to the station in the mini bus (booking required, but always plenty space) and then I could get the free ski bus from the station to the inawashiro ski paradise slopes, it would have been useful and a big plus, if the hotel ran their buses to the slopes also. I'm led to believe from other reviews that they used to do this some years ago, but not any longer. Taxis are pricey, so make use of the hot shuttle if possible is definitely recommended. All in all, this is a nice place to stay, very comfortable with plenty good quality food and friendly helpful staff.
Healing Inn White Pension

In my experience so far, I have been betrayed by the pension, but this time I have been recognized. It was a pension full of commitment in a good way over all the owners. The room was a double room, I thought it was a little small, but it was a mysterious feeling that gradually calmed down. Of course, cleanliness itself. There are two open-air baths in the annex, but the washing area is large, the bath is large, and the feeling of relaxation is full. There is also a bath in the main building. Of particular note is the meal. It is an Italian-based dish, but it uses the freshness of the ingredients and the high-class ingredients (e.g., cheese, Parmigiano Reggiano, Japanese black beef, etc.) generously. It seemed that the number of dishes was small, but the amount of 1 was large, and the last Japanese black beef taliata had a large amount of meat, and white rice came out, but it was incredibly delicious. It was rice, I was already full and could only eat a little. Hamburgers are served for breakfast, but fresh vegetables and Australian beef are sandwiched between them and it is delicious. Croissants also taste great. Ice cream is also homemade. Anyway, as soon as I was impressed by the management attitude that did not compromise at all. Overall, it was an accommodation experience that seemed too cheap. It is an Auberge pension that I want to visit again.
Lake View Inawashiro

This time we visited during the autumn leaves season! We checked in after seeing the Bandai Azuma Skyline and Goshiki-numa! It was great that we could check in at our leisure by 9pm for a room-only stay. We also had a nice long bath in the large communal bath, which warmed us up! In the winter, it's located very close to the Inawashiro Ski Resort, so it was great that they also had a ski drying room! They don't provide rice, but there is a hot plate and rice cooker next to the lounge, so you can cook rice and grill things you buy at the supermarket♪ I'd definitely like to come back in the winter!
Inawashiro Shikinosato

We were simply blown away by the service and hospitality at this hotel. From the time we checked in, even though they spoke very little English, we felt welcome and well looked after. We would especially like to single out the manager, Kobiyama, who was so helpful in helping us organize our outings, and even driving us to the train station and up into the hills to the Goshiki-numa lakes – and asked for nothing in return! We were humbled by his generosity. The hotel is located a few kms out of the town, so having a car is definitely a good idea, as there really isn’t too much around the immediate area. Just down the hill through a forested pathway is a shrine. And passing through that is a beautiful water race which you can walk along for miles and miles in either direction. The hotel is large, 3 or 4 stories, and set amongst forest and green lawns – quite a nice setting! The upper floor of the hotel even has lake views over Lake Inawashiro. The tennis court hasn’t been used in years and is covered in thick moss - unusable. Likewise, they no longer have bicycles for rent. Our Japanese style room was of average size, bright and airy, clean and well-maintained. We had a balcony with nice views over the grounds and out to the lake in the distance. There was no bath or shower, so we had to use the onsen just down the hallway. The wifi was good and there was a TV as well which we never used. The AC worked well. The breakfasts were nothing special, typical traditional Japanese fare, but we did get some eggs and ham on our second day there. We did get a great dinner, a set meal of local beef steak, fries, and salad, and it was probably one of the better steaks I’ve had. Overall, we had a great stay and loved the great hospitality. We would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers.
