Sea Rock Villa

We were here for 5 nights after a busy week touring in the mountains around Ella. We chose the Sea Rock as our final hotel before we flew home. Unfortunately just before we arrived at Sea rock, my wife broke her leg at a hotel in Ella. We decided after consulting with a Doctor in Galle to stay with our itinary and not return home imediately. I am so glad we did. The staff ar Sea rock are amazing, they looked after my wife so well and went out of their way to make sure she was as comfortable as she could be. The room was really nice and was kept really clean, the food was amazing and the location on the beach is perfect. I would recommend Sea Rock wholeheartedly, its a lovely place with amazing staff. I have just booked for us to back next year.

Very spacious room that was kept very clean and tidy by the room boy , excellent en suite bathroom . All the staff were friendly , knowledgeable , efficient and couldnt do enough to make this a memorable stay . Restaurant food was on the whole well prepared , presentable and tasty . Full marks to the restaurant and bar staff

We had a wonderful stay at Sea Rock Villa near Bentota. The hotel was the cleanest among all our accommodations. Its location is excellent, with direct access to the beach. The on-site restaurant serves fresh and delicious food, and the waiters are professional and well-trained. However, they made it quite obvious that they expected a tip before we left. While the hotel premises are enjoyable, safe, and relaxing, venturing out to Aluthgama, where the shops are located, was less pleasant. We were constantly followed by people trying to earn a commission on our purchases, which made the experience uncomfortable.

I had a disappointing experience at Bentota Palm restaurant on 25th oj June due to the extremely rude attitude of Janaka, the waiter. He was the worst waiter I've ever encountered. My companion and I ordered a lobster thermidor and grilled pork chops, but Janaka didn't bother to check on us or ask how our food was. He didn't even offer us water throughout the meal. Interestingly, the security guard, Thilakarathna, was more hospitable than anyone else in the restaurant. He was attentive and courteous. I must admit that the food itself was the only highlight of the evening. It was excellent and delicious. However, Janaka seemed more interested in serving a German family at the restaurant and neglected our table completely. This kind of behavior is simply unacceptable in the service industry

This place is truly fantastic! Clean rooms, the garden is beautifully landscaped, a neatly maintained pool and the sea at your feet. Enjoy the sunbeds that the gardener puts in front of you wherever you want. The Palm restaurant right next to the garden is a very nice addition, you don't have to go anywhere everything is already there. We also booked a river tour with Jaba Tours via Sea Rock Villa. That was very worthwhile. Jaba did his best to give us the most enjoyable experience. We sailed through mangrove forests, were able to hold small crocodiles and feed monkeys. Jaba is really incredibly nice! Actually, all the staff at Sea Rock Villa are great! The ladies at the front desk, the people in the restaurant, the gardener. You immediately feel welcome! And yet there is 1 criticism. And that is the owner. A very elderly man who lives in Sea Rock Villa for 6 months a year and behaves entirely accordingly. On the first day of our arrival, I had sat down on a beach bed behind a plastic fence because it was raining and there was no one in the garden. The old man came up to me and, without introducing himself, he started shouting that I was not allowed to sit there, that he had paid a huge amount of money for this place, and that it was therefore his place, and if I wanted to leave. I did not understand, partly because there was no sign saying that this spot was specially reserved. I just got up and left the place, confused. Later, when I inquired with the staff what was with that particular spot, I understood that it was the owner who addressed me like this. He expects special treatment in his own Villa so we could see, and that's his right if he is the owner, but barking at your own guests like that is really something you can't do. Asking nicely and giving an explanation would have been a better idea. Too bad for this location as the staff are great. I think the other 6 months of the year are a lot more pleasant for them.
