Creag Dhubh Country House

Stayed for 2 nights & have to say Inveraray is a beautiful place The room was quite small & I would have liked a loch view, the fan in the bathroom made a loud noise when switched on & the shower caddy was rusty The room could do with a refresh to be honest but the bed was comfortable & the linen & towels clean & fresh The host, Crawford, was very friendly without being intrusive & very knowledgeble about the area All in all I enjoyed our stay & would stay again

We had a lovely stay at this property situated overlooking the loch a short walk from the centre of Inverary. Room was comfortable with everything you needed for a good nights stay. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful and there was ample parking off road. Would visit again!

I am a bit remiss in taking so long to write my review of this wonderful stay in June 2024 at the Creag Dhubh Country House. We had a very warm welcome from Janice, our hostesses and owner. This was our first time to Scotland and what a wonderful experience staying here. The house is situated in a wonderful location in Inveraray, overlooking Loch Flynn. The location was perfect, with a delightful 10 minute scenic walk along Loch Flynn into the heart of the sweet historic town and only 15 minute walk to Inveraray Castle . We never needed to get in our car for the two nights we stayed and it was safely parked up the driveway, in front of the house for the duration. After a really comfortable nights sleep in our lovely room, I enjoyed a scrumptious English cup of tea in bed as I watch the light on the picturesque Loch Flynn which was constantly changing and mesmerizing views from our window. Our start to the day was topped with Janice’s delicious full option breakfast, my husband having the full Scottish breakfast and me opting for delicious bowl of porridge, which set us up for the day. The room was large with comfy chairs looking at the picturesque view. The bathroom was large and well appointed with a shower. Many thanks again to the kind and wonderful Janice who went above and beyond and had absolutely terrific recommendations for dining in town!

What a beautiful period home with a wonderful view over the loch . Our room was immaculately clean with a small coffee tea and biscuit tray perfect after a long travel . Breakfast was fabulous fresh fruit granola yoghurt and honey compote , and a full English breakfast with fresh juice tea and coffee . Janice our host was the nicest person you could ever meet . We will definitely stay here again

Hubby and I spent two nights here this month and were so glad we'd found Creag Dhubh. It's a beautiful old house with character and Crawford and Janice were smashing hosts, very friendly and very welcoming. Although the house is old and fixtures and fittings such as the bathroom suite, handles, etc., were in an old-fashioned style, they were modern in construction and everything in our room worked perfectly. We also love the high ceilings in this period of house. We had a large room at the front of the house on the 1st floor and had a wonderful view of the gardens and Loch Fyne. The room was big enough to accommodate a table and chairs at the bay window and it was lovely to sit there in the peace and quiet with a cup of tea, admiring the view. Our full Scottish breakfast was very tasty and filling, as was the seafood platter we had one evening. It was chock-a-block with mussels, clams, rollmop herring, salmon, prawns and even oysters - absolutely delicious and greatly appreciated. We really couldn't have asked for better accommodation or nicer hosts - thanks again!

Janice was a wonderful host. The room was exactly as we hoped set back from the road ( not as much as the picture suggests) but still enough not to be troubled by the noise and with a beautiful view over the water to the mountains. The full breakfast was excellent and they are willing to accommodate small requested changes .
