Inverell Terrace Motor Lodge

We arrived late into Inverell so called into the first motel we saw. My partner was a bit worse for wear so I payed for two nights. Big mistake. Because I had not asked about how the wifi actually worked. Not that I normally do, but after my experience with the Inverell Terrace Motor Lodge I certainly do now. After unloading I looked unsuccessfully for the wifi details in the room. So went to the front desk. To be told we could have an internet connection only for a single device. Just one. With no ability to switch the internet connection between our 4 devices. This is a problem for my partner and me. This is the only place we have ever stayed where wifi was thus limited. As a result I immediately returned to the office and informed the manager that we would not be staying for the second night. He replied saying that we had not given sufficient notice so we would have to pay for the second night. Seeing as I had booked and paid for the room only 20 minutes previously, there is no chance that I could cancel within his specified lead time. Next morning as we left I asked about the second nights payment only to be rudely told that he would check the room and decide whether he would reconsider. Obviously he did not reconsider. We have paid for 2 nights with no reimbursement for the second night nor have we had any contact saying why he decided to keep our payment for the second night.

We'd been in Armidale, and wanted to explore Inverell. Sadly, the accommodation that was available didn't cover the full time we wanted to spend, so ours was a curtailed visit. (Moral - if you want to stay in Inverell during early May, book early!) Rooms were comfortable, well-equipped, and boasted a mini-bar (something I find less often than in the past, so well done - although we didn't use it). The tourist information centre warned us that dinner was not generally available; this was not true; it's provided to the room from a (somewhat limited) menu, albeit not every day of the week.

Friendly staff, rooms clean and comfortable. Traveling for business this was an oasis from home. Close to the centre of town. A great place to stay when in Inverell. Gentlemen who helped me check in was fantastic. Told me the best places to eat in town an always with a smile.

We stayed one night at the beginning of our trip. We were so impressed with the lovely service and the very clean and comfortable room that we stopped again on our way home. This time we opted for a home cooked meal delivered to our room and breakfast before we left. Both meals were quite generous and we enjoyed them very much. Just simple meals but well cooked and delicious. It is now our accommodation of choice in Inverell and we will spread the word for this lovely couple’s business.
