The Grand Inova Hotel was centrally located in Istanbul within walking distance of the Grand Bazar, Sulthanahmet and several of Istanbul's attractions. However, it should be noted that there is a steep hill from the hotel to get up to Beyazıt-Kapalıçarşı which is the nearest tram stop. The area around the hotel was lively with many cozy eateries, narrow streets and exciting shops. However, the hotel was poorly signposted and we found that there were several taxis that struggled to find their way. The hotel staff were not uniformed and appeared somewhat unprofessional, but friendly and service minded. The employee quickly found our reservation upon arrival and accompanied us up to the room to check that everything was in order upon check-in. We also received good help from the staff at reception when there were things we wondered about or needed help with. The guest room was small, but practically furnished and consisted of a double bed and a single bed, as well as a fridge. The mattress in the bed appeared to be comfortable and the linen was spotlessly clean. The cleanliness was generally good, but the room was not cleaned during the three days we stayed at the hotel. The air conditioning system worked very well and there was a well-functioning free wireless network. The guest room was somewhat worn and there were some signs of wear on the door, walls and floor. The lock on the front door seemed easy to break open and we felt that the security at the hotel could have been better. It was also very loud and we heard everything that was said in the hallway outside the hotel room. The bathroom was small and consisted of a shower, sink and toilet. The towels were clean and of good quality and there were complimentary toiletries. The cleanliness was good, but the maintenance could have been somewhat better. The hotel's common areas could have benefited from being refurbished and we found the hotel to be somewhat out of date. As mentioned above, we were also unsure about the general level of security at the hotel. The breakfast was served as a buffet and had a simple selection of both cold and hot dishes. We found the selection somewhat limited and would have liked to see a wider selection. The products that were served seemed to be made from fresh and fresh ingredients. The staff at breakfast took little initiative and I missed both smiles and some service comments. The hotel offers a good product for those who want a simple and affordable stay in Istanbul, if you want something more than this, you should choose another hotel. We are unsure whether we will stay at the hotel again - and will probably choose another hotel if we visit Istanbul again
