Jabalpur was a city that we only knew as a large army cant and a key railway junction. It was also a last minute entry in our itinerary - an youtube video on bhedaghat that we came across by chance making us opt for a couple of days in the central Indian city. We were not aware of the presence of the itc welcome in jabalpur, and we therefore opted to go in for the Pride by Samrat, surely based on tripadvisor reviews. Well, the hotel is different and unique in it's own way. The hotel is located in the heart of the city, and right in the midst of the hustle bustle. So a lot of traffic and sounds right through, but we liked that experience. The parking was adequate, and the lobby small. The room was reasonably sized, and had a cozy feel overall. We loved the view of the city from the windows. The room had basic amenities. The washroom was also adequate and had warm water. The highlight of the property is really the food. The restaurant serves up sumptuous food across cuisines, and we had a blast tasting the different dishes on offer. The Breakfast spread was also reasonable and most importantly delectable. The service was nice as well, and the staff were always keen to help. They helped us get a cab for local sightseeing, and that too was a splendid experience. Overall, this is a place that stands out for its location, food and warmth. It is definitely not comparable to the Marriotts and Tajs, but definitely has an old world charm of its own.
