Hotel Helsinki House

My husband and I stayed at this hotel when it first opened in 2014 and I returned in 2016 as well so we were pleased to be able to have a return visit on this current trip to India. We let Helsinki House know we were coming back- they arranged a driver to meet us at the airport- a welcoming shower of rose petals and garlands of flowers! The hotel has changed significantly since my last visit. The foyer area has been redesigned and is a truly lovely welcoming space. Our spacious room overlooked the lake (a bit of water this time as apparently there were unprecedented floods late last year) The Rajhastani furnishings were colourful and tasteful. The bathroom has obviously been remodelled since last visit- it was modern and sleek; toilets and basin were modern in design. Lots of room. We ate at the rooftop restaurant. We found that this was the best food we'd had since arriving in India. There were salad /vegetable options as well traditional food and the cook prepared anything that we wanted. Unfortunately just as we arrived I came down with a flu virus and had to spend time in bed. The wonderful management (Mr Maru) organised for the BEST chicken spicy soup to my room on several occasions. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough_ everyone was helpful. The hotel was very clean and efficiently run- but it was really the staff that made our return stay such a delight. Since our first visit a decade ago many many more hotels have sprung up- Jaisalmer seems to have become a tourist mecca. So if you are heading to Jaisalmer this really is a great choice to stay. We also went to the Helsinki Desert camp- separate review. A great add on. Shout at to Maru and staff. Thank you.

Exhaust fan not provided in wash room. Sewage smell was there in wash room. This was quite irritating. Approach road was not carpeted and was dusty. Food was okay.

beautifully build property however eneterance lane is not good , close to fort , Breakfast just ok staff help full

Beautiful property, elegantly constructed, Superbly maintained. It is outside the fort area however the view from room 11 and 12 is beautiful. It’s overlooking a seasonal lake. Decent food, tastefully done rooms. Located 1km from market and main road, all necessary things are available nearby. The caretaker is very helpful and ensures you have a great time. Recommended.

Hotel room view was very bad though interior was decent. The breakfast was very average with very limited options and even omelette was served pure made. The front desk over charges everything like for day trip to seam sand dunes taxi fare was asked 7k while same taxi from nearby vendor was available in 5k. Not recommended at all unless booked for less that 3k per night. Same type or better hotels and cab services are available in way less charges in same area. Their camp site was also very average with poor food quality. Better camps are available in seam so don’t get fleeced.

Worst hotel ever! We reached at late night after a 10 hour drive from Jaipur. They didn’t even have a place for the poor driver and in that insane cold, they asked him to stay at a different place. No humanity whatsoever. Now coming to the banger. Rats roam around in your room. We were shocked and terrified. Please don’t go to this hotel if you value your life.
