Hotel Hvar

We were put in this hotel for one night due to an overbooking expedient at the hotel we had booked. The place is run down and seemed semi derelict until the arrival of a local sports team of about 60 people. The bar was self service and the drinks available were unpleasant and watered down. No tonic water just a soda machine with cheap syrups. Accomodation was cramped and basic, Food poor quality and mostly out of a tin. Couldn't wait to be out of the place and at our booked hotel. So grateful that it was only for one night!

We were put here overnight because the hotel we were supposed to be staying in was overbooked. We arrived at 11pm and pretty much went straight to bed although I was worried about getting stuck in the lift as it was so rickety. The room was very basic and dated but to be fair, the beds and pillows were comfortable which isn’t always the case, even in better hotels. This is not really the hotels fault but we were woken up really early by about a dozen women deciding that it was a really good idea to socialise on the landing. They were all middle aged women from mainland Croatia wearing matching sports tops. At 8pm, I could stand it no longer and went up and asked them to be quiet. They quieted down a little. When we went down to breakfast (the food was very poor), there were dozens of these women! After breakfast, we had a walk around the grounds. Everywhere looked really run down- only one out of the 4 tennis courts looked like it had been played on in the last year. The others were dilapidated or green with moss. The crazy golf looked rubbish, as if it hadn’t been used for years, as did the outdoor table tennis tables. The pool was really small for the size of the hotel although we didn’t look at the indoor pool. The only other nice thing was if you walk down to the coastline, there is a nice path that seemed to go both ways. As you can imagine, I would not recommend this hotel!

Photoshopped pictures, the rooms do not look like that at all, we had a literal couch as a bed with just a sheet. The food was disgusting, we could tell it was from the day before. Bugs and rats in the rooms, with dirty towels. The room was undone every day. Wouldn’t want my worst enemy to spend a night there.

What Laura M. Said. She took the words right out of my mouth. The front desk went out of their way to tell us where the pool was, which was empty. The food, well, they do their best, but it falls short. The pictures do not match the experience for sure. I did enjoy the music they play throughout the property and the bar downstairs is kind of a fun throwback. PS, don’t visit Croatia in April as 3/4 of the country seems to be closed, at least in the Dalmatian Islands.
