To start with, Shaxi is such a precious jewel. The historic preservation collaboration between ETH and Chinese scholars and the locals is impressive. The harmony formed by the nature and the man-made environment is incredible. We wish we had more time to stay and dive deeper.
And we absolutely loved our stay at the Flower Inn. It’s really close to the core of the town yet very quiet and peaceful. The garden is meticulously cared for. The most special is an impressive 2-story library housing the owners’ personal book collections. They recently opened the library to the community a few days a week - a generous way to share knowledge and wisdom, and bring the community closer together.
The owners are very warm, interested in making friends and sharing their experience. I really enjoyed an evening chat with them and listening to the stories about the town’s history, preservation, local lifestyles and much more.
We would love to come back to Shaxi in the future and stay at the Flower Inn again.

Very cosy and charming place to stay. The library is absolutely breathtaking.
Equipment was is great condition, everything was clean.
The host was really nice and well organized; she helped us all along our stay to navigate around the city and find a transportation to Dali.
The hotel is conveniently located close to the center of the city.
This stay was the highlight of our trip. The city is so beautiful and peaceful. Shibaoshan is really worth the trip (count half a day to really enjoy the trip). We regret not staying longer both in the hotel and the city.

Mr. and Mrs. Li are both elegant and easy-going people. They are warm and hospitable, but not overly intrusive. Unfortunately, faced with such a collection of 40,000 to 50,000 books, I didn’t have time to sit down and read a single book properly during my three-day stay.

The room was clean and quiet at night. The owner paid great attention to details. We were also given afternoon tea, and the homemade desserts were very good. The inn is in the ancient town, which is very convenient for travel and eating around. The courtyard is also very well built, and there are 2 cute kittens.
