The disadvantage is that the floors are not soundproofed well. Except for big brand five-star hotels, the floors of domestic hotels are not strong enough. I live on the top floor and can clearly hear the kids next door running around in the room and even the tones of incoming text messages. Are there young children living next door and upstairs? The aunties in the women's changing room of the hot spring are also quite enthusiastic. Very nice hotel... well located, inside the walls of the histroic water town, but in a quiet part, away from the hustle of the crowded streets. Room was clean and easily large enough.. with good lighting and private toilet/shower, and daily room service. The buffet breakfast, included in the room price was very good. I speak no mandarin; so I had to communicate with the reception/front desk staff using translate on phones. The front desk staff were wonderful... cheerful, helpful. They went to great lenghts to explain to me how to obtain and buis ticket to Shanghai, where to catch the bus and so on... also the same staff were extremely helpful with day to day questions. The only strange or negative thing is that when shown the room, it looks wonderful as it includes a small private verandah with table and chair. However, there is a fixed wire screen preventing the inhabitant from accessing the room's verandah... kind of strange and certainly a negative
