The Parkwood

What a wonderful hotel we are so pleased that we stayed here just disappointed that it was only for the 2 nights. We stayed in Johannesburg to break up the journey from the UK and before we went on safari in Zambia and in addition we hadn't visited Johannesburg previously. The Parkwood is in a safe neighbour (you are free to wander locally during the day but best to book an Uber in the evenings) but also has wonderful security. The hotel is really well decorated, well maintained and has some lovely communal sitting areas around a small pool and after a long journey we spent several hours just chilling out. From the moment we arrived all the team were so helpful - we were very lucky that we were able to check in early (not something we expected - would have been just happy to drop our bags off) and were looked after from that moment until we left. It was great to meet and chat with Sarah who was happy to provide recommendations on restaurants / activities. The rooms are sizeable each with a small private outdoor courtyard and lovely bathroom. Breakfasts were a mix of cold buffett and you could order a selection of hot breakfast dishes along toast - all freshly made. The Parkwood is a fabulous hotel - you won't be disappointed .... we weren't.

We stayed at the Parkwood for one night before taking off on Rovos Rails and both felt that one night was a disservice to this lovely, welcoming guest house. The rooms were impeccable - with radiant heating in the floor, outstanding water pressure, soft linens and a glass of sherry waiting on arrival. JP helped us to make dinner reservations at Proud Mary (a must go) and assisted us with drivers to and from the airport. The breakfast was delicious. I even ordered from Uber Eats and lounged in a garden with my lunch. I hope I can return again and stay a few nights to fully soak in the relaxation and vibes.

Our stay at the charming The Parkwood in Johannesburg was nothing short of delightful. The interior decor was beautifully curated, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout the lodge. The breakfast served was absolutely delicious, with a variety of options to choose from to suit every palate. The rooms were extremely comfortable and well-appointed, providing a tranquil retreat. And of course we need to mention Jean-Paul who was the most helpful and most charming host. Thanks for making us feel at home straight away.

The Loveliest little boutique hotel ever! We stayed there for one night, and I wish we could have stayed longer. But such an amazing little place. Parkwood is located right in the middle of the city and close to the airport. Sarah, our host, and owner, was excellent and kind. We came in early, so our rooms were not quite ready, but Sarah asked us to have breakfast and settle while we waited. The breakfast was custom and excellent french press coffee. The staff was friendly and kind. We loved our room, and the bed was comfortable. As I said, I wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel felt like a home, and we will be back. One of us left a jacket behind the day we left, and on our trip back to Jo'burg, the front gate guard had it ready for us to grab. Thank you Sarah for your hospitality! We so enjoyed it and look forward to coming back!

During our circuitous trip through southern Africa we stayed here twice while in Johannesburg, well-worth the money and wouldn’t hesitate to book it again. Great property, rooms, breakfast, and the staff was top notch.

Can I really just give it only 5 Stars? Dean and Sarah have created the most welcoming, comfortable and luxurious guest house. The outdoor spaces have comfortable couches and are a perfect way to relax. We ordered dinner one night and breakfast to order each day. The chefs make a delicious meal. I thoroughly enjoyed the nice big bathtub with jets after a day of touring. Everything was clean and nicely decorated. They have a 24/7 guard and the neighborhood is quiet. We felt completely safe. Easy walk to Rosemark area for shops and restaurants. The icing on top was how Sarah and Dean accomodated us with our late evening flight home and let us have a place to relax and hang out before we left.
