"It's not terrible, but I wouldn't really consider it a 'value for money' hotel. I felt that the service and facilities didn't quite justify the price. The hairdryers in the public bath were so outdated that it took forever to dry my hair. When I asked for extra towels, they responded that 'not too many' were allowed, which was the first time I've encountered an onsen hotel being so stingy with their towels. For context, I've stayed at dozens of Japanese onsen hotels. I only used the onsen in the mornings and evenings, and at most, I asked for one extra towel per night – not dozens of times. So, their reluctant response felt quite stingy. By the way, this was the female staff member who assisted me on my check-in day. The next day, a male staff member readily provided a towel when I asked.
The food was delicious. However, for guests staying multiple consecutive nights, it would have been nice to have at least slightly different menu options each day. Having the exact same dishes for two consecutive days was a bit disappointing.
Would I go back? No. This isn't a place I'd visit a second time.
The onsen hot spring water itself was authentically excellent.
Also, some Japanese individuals tend to use casual speech ('banmal') when foreigners speak Japanese. However, hotels, being in the hospitality industry, typically avoid this. Yet, the staff here spoke to me in banmal. Normally, one would expect gratitude when a foreigner makes the effort to speak the local language, but to be addressed informally ('banmal')? Honestly, I found it quite upsetting. I've never experienced this at any other onsen hotel. While I can somewhat understand if it's a random passerby, for hotel staff in the hospitality business to use 'banmal' with a guest is simply unacceptable!"
"One of the best onsen I must say. It’s very very near Shirahige Falls about 5 minutes walk in thick snow. But there aren’t any convenient shops or restaurants within reach. I guess you’ll need to drive. Limited public bus to reach the resort and it costs 660 yen. If you missed then you’ll need to get a taxi which cost about 8000 yen. We took the day trip around Biei which cost about 5500 per person to 8 locations around Biei and the last location you guess it right, it’s Shirahige fall. The tour bus driver very kind to drop us at the onsen resort
They served the best saisaki and breakfast. Be sure to get your stomach empty before you reach the premise for the dinner."
"I was a little disappointed because group travelers were the main customers, but the breakfast and dinner were better than average. The problem was that the bed was too old and sank, so my back hurt a lot for three days and I woke up early and couldn't sleep deeply. The facilities were also very old, and the water kettle was dozens of years old, so I couldn't make drip coffee."
"We wanted to visit Shirogane, hence we chose the few hotels there. We settled on this one because of room availability and the guarantee that it was non-smoking. The hotel is old, but it's like all the other hotels in this area. We enjoyed the osen (especially the outdoor setting), which turned out to be free (as opposed to what was reflected on Trip.com website); we confirmed with the hotel before we arrived that this was indeed the case. Great that breakfast and dinner were included as there are very few other choices in this area."
With a stay at this vacation home in Biei (Shirogane Onsen), you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Shirokane Hot Spring and Shirahige Falls. This vacation home is 0.5 mi (0.8 km) from Daisetsuzan National Park and 2.2 mi (3.5 km) from Blue Pond.
Take in the views from a terrace and a garden and make use of amenities such as a picnic area.
Free self parking is available onsite.
Make yourself comfortable in your vacation home. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected.
"The location is in a quiet mountain. My son said that fairies would come out. The cleanliness, service, and facilities were really the best. It looks old, but it is clean and the facilities look good. The owner is very kind. I plan to visit again."
"The hotel is a bit old but the frontdesk staff was very polite and helpful. Carparking is easy which is only outside the hotel.
The room is sizeable and quite clean though the bathroom lighting is below the mark.
The buffet style dinner is a real surprise even though I prefer to try Japanese style dinner. But the staff were unable to fully advise us the food choices in English that we had to find them out by ourselves."
"I usually don't leave negative reviews, but Hotel Taisetsuzan was the exception during my entire Hokkaido trip. 1. The hotel's exterior and lobby are nice, there are even performances in the lobby at night, and the hot springs are good. However, the toilet in the room constantly smelled, which was a first for me. I was too tired to report it to the hotel. 2. Since the room was a tatami room, there weren't many amenities, not even bottled water, so I had to go downstairs to buy some myself! 3. The service was alright; the futons were already laid out during dinner. However, it definitely didn't live up to the 2000+ yen per night price tag!"

NnichapatNice location new house near shopping street i like it will get a chance to be back here again
JJackyFyiVery good homestay, the room is very beautiful, the facilities are very complete, the environment is particularly good, but also provide snowmobiles, the owner of the homestay is very polite, also introduce the facilities in the room, it is recommended to charter a car to arrive, there are no taxis and restaurants nearby, I booked when I filled in two big and one small, As a result, Trip.com I reported two adults. Fortunately, the owner of the hotel was better to talk and didn't let us make up the money. It made us very embarrassed. Next time we went to Meiqi, we would still stay at a homestay.

EEng YeowA Convenient and Comfortable Retreat
There are 4 units in this building. One parking slot per unit is provided at the corner near unit 101.
This apartment offers a truly practical and comfortable base for exploring the area. We really appreciated the thoughtful touches, like the basic utensils and cutlery for easy meal prep, and the welcome inclusion of instant slippers, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. The microwave was also super handy for quick snacks and reheats.
Comfort is well-managed with one air-conditioner that kept the unit at a pleasant temperature throughout our stay. The washing machine was a huge plus, and we found the designated drying area right above it in the toilet very efficient. The separate dining table was also a nice touch, providing a comfortable space for meals. 2 dryers are outside the building.
With two double beds, this unit is well-suited for small groups or families. We also enjoyed being able to link our Netflix account to the TV, which was great for unwinding in the evenings
.
Things to Note About the Location
The apartment is located in a quiet neighborhood, offering a peaceful atmosphere. While there aren't many eateries directly nearby, there are two convenience stores within easy reach. Do keep in mind that local supermarkets tend to close around 7 PM, so plan accordingly for groceries.
We found the area to be quite pleasant for getting around, with not many cars on the road. This makes it particularly fun to explore the town by bicycle, and there are several bicycle rental stores available if you're keen to pedal around.
