Stayed for 11 nights in a budget studio which was small but beautifully appointed and decorated. The room had great air con ( included in the room price) strong WiFi, a queen sized bed, flat screen smart TV with Netflix, small fridge, kettle and few utensils and a lovely, modern shower/toilet. There’s also a small balcony with table and chairs and a clothes drying rack. The cafe/reception area is beautiful and very popular for coffee with residents and other visitors. As mentioned in so many previous reviews, the Staff are fantastic. The Manager, Marios is officially the nicest bloke on earth. He literally cannot do enough for you. He was so welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and just the best host you could ever wish for. He was ably assisted by the lovely Clare and Robert who were also so kind and helpful. Alykes beach is only yards behind the hotel with numerous beach bars/hotels renting sun beds ranging from €3.50 ( for 1 bed and umbrella) up to €20 for 2 at the more trendy bars. The general location is great, at three far end of the Town with loads of restaurants, bars and the legendary Montes supermarket 100 yards across the road. I absolutely loved my stay at this fantastic place. Thanks and love to all the staff.

I booked Kanela studio for a week as I was in Zakynthos for my best friend’s wedding. As soon as I arrived, I got welcomed like in a family. The whole team was so lovely and available. The room was very comfortable, the environment very chill and relax, style surf house. I was going to the Kanela cafe every day and it was like being with friends I always known. I really recommend this place if you are looking for a little authentic get away from all the superficial places you can find in some village of the island! Thank you to Marios, Claire and Roberto ❤️

Mario’s, Roberto and Daniel are all fabulous. They are very welcoming nothing was too much trouble. Our 2 bedroom apartment was a good size with everything we needed. Always hot water and Nellie came in every day to look after our room. Coffee was always good.

My partner and I have just returned from this wonderful hotel. The owners are the most friendly you will ever come across. From the moment we arrived till we left they make you feel so welcome The whole building is quirky and doesn't feel like your average Greek accommodation. Rooms are wonderfully decorated and free Air Con along with a great bathroom. Not the best of view from the balcony but we never stopped in much. Although they've got no pool the beach is a few steps away and you can use the facilities at Whispers pool bar for free which is lovely. The breakfast at Kanela isn't your typical fry up but nice healthy yoghurt with granola and fruit. You get 10% all food and drink while you there too which is a great bonus. Overall a great place to stay and definitely recommend

A fantastic place to spend your holiday. The rooms are excellent and decorated with hand made furniture which provides an eclectic, bohemian feel. Unusual for the Greek islands, the walk in shower was superb with not curtain in sight! I often read reviews which extol the virtues of the staff and I'm often dubious. In the case of Kanela, every single member of staff were fantastic. Never in your face but always around to assist if needed. Location is superb, on the main road but also a 30 second walk to the sandy beach (even in flip flops). The bar area is very relaxing and serves some of the best cocktails in Alykes, along with great home made teas and soft drinks. Overall, I would highly recommend Kanela to travellers of all ages, including families.

A family run passion project owned by hard working and extremely kind brothers Marios and Georgios. Kanela consists of Individually designed, hand built beach house studios less than one minute from the Alykes Beach. There is a beautiful shaded bar and garden cafe with a gorgeous menu made from fresh local products (including vegan options); this provides a perfect sanctuary from the heat of the sun, where you can relax in company, listen to great music and while away your day. If you are looking for somewhere with a boho-boutique vibe, then Kanela is the perfect option for you. Marios and Georgios have worked hard to create a magical alternative to the dated studios and mass tourism options found across much of Zakynthos. Kanela is for everyone, there are guests of all ages from all walks of life and everyone is welcomed with the same care, interest and respect. The Kanela warmth hits you from the second you arrive and radiates across your entire stay - you will be longing to return. I highly recommend to anyone who is longing to relax amongst decent people.

Having been to Alykes many times I thought I would look at different accommodation and Google maps led me to kanela. The pictures instantly caught my attention as the rooms were not just your standard basic rooms. You could see that some thought and effort had gone into the decor and it really made a difference. Also, the location was perfect as it was 20 seconds from door to sandy beach where we could watch an amazing sunrise. We arrived to a really nice and warm welcome from Marios. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Giorgos this time but hopefully next time. Marios was amazing and was happy to help in anyway possible always telling us that we should feel at home. The place had a very relaxed feel and was just a really nice place to be. The facilities were great, the kanela breakfast bowl was very good and the coffees were brilliant. You could tell that Marios genuinely cares about the details. He always had time to sit and talk to his guests too. We felt very welcome there and it was a joy, start to finish. Thank you to the whole kanela team. We will definitely be seeing you again.

Marias and George are the most wonderful hosts. They made us feel so welcome at their beautiful place. Their talent and design of Kanela is just stunning, they don’t only create a spectacle of art and beauty but also such a warm and friendly atmosphere. We feel very lucky to have found Kanela.
