Not far from Thalem and Durbar square
Good hotel if you are travelling on a budget while enjoying a nice Nepali deco with a patio-stupa in the center of the property.
Room was pretty old but reasonable for the price!

Having travelled to Nepal for many years I have stayed in a vast variety of Hotels in the Thamel area I have hit the jackpot!! The Ganesh Himal is minutes from the busy Thamel area however bring located in a local neighbourhood area it's is a peaceful haven. It ticks every box!! It has a huge central Garden that is heaven to return to after a busy day..and indeed a peaceful place to start the day. The staff are so incredibly kind and helpful. I was sick in bed for a week when I arrived and they took care of me.. bringing me food and making sure I was ok. The restaurant has the most delicious food..same price if not cheaper than the Thamel Restaurants! There is a huge variety of large rooms to choose from. And being a budget traveller the price is about as good as you get get for this luxury,! It's an easy walk to see the sights! Close to Dhurber Square and Swayumbu Temple. I've finally found my forever Hotel. It took 18 years but now I've found my gold!!! I cannot recommend this Hotel highly enough. It's just perfect!

I had a good experience at this place. It's located far enough from the main area of Thamel that it's fairly quiet at night, but close enough to go anywhere on foot. I stayed in a room that had A/C, a comfortable double bed, and a huge bathroom for a reasonable price. The hotel courtyard is very chill and picturesque – a good place to relax and meet other travelers. The guys who run the place are very nice and the kitchen staff are quite friendly!

Great location within walking distance to thamel, durbar square and just for walking around. Staff were very nice. Deluxe rooms not as stated on website. Do not have balcony or patio and were basic. Overall good place to stay while visiting Kathmandu.
