We had a wonderful stay at this hotel, but what truly sets it apart is the exceptional service from every member of the team. Your service was outstanding from the very beginning, but it became extraordinary after we fell ill and needed to extend our visit. The staff went above and beyond—checking on us regularly, preparing special meals to help us recover, and making sure we were as comfortable as possible. Their kindness, warmth, and genuine concern made a difficult situation so much easier. We have traveled extensively, and we can honestly say we have never experienced service as thoughtful, compassionate, and attentive as this. If you are visiting South Africa, stay here. You will be cared for in a way that is truly rare. Highly, highly recommended

Lovely small boutique hotel, 20 min drive from Jo'burg airport with efficient complementary pick-up and drop-off service, in quiet (away from flight paths) gated neigbourhood. It could be just another airport stop-over hotel but is so much more than that and worth staying longer if possible. Only 11 rooms in quirky modern buildings laid out around beautiful gardens, with lots of local art sparking things up, including lovely ink drawings and paintings by one of the owners with prints and other local art/souvenirs available to buy. Our room was huge and well provided, we stayed half-board and dinner was fantastic, my beef fillet possibly the best meal I had on a holiday which was characterised by great food. The disappointment was we had to leave early in the morning after a 1-night stop over and neede pack up breakfasts when we'd have loved to try the hotel's full breakfast!

Stayed one night after arriving at OR Tambo before flying onto Botswana, and another night on the way back. Arrived from AMS at 2130, and were met at OR Tambo by the complimentary driver and driven safely and efficiently to the ARH in 15 minutes. Food was waiting for us at 2230 - a platter of casseroled beef, fish and chicken, and a glass of Merlot. Breakfast was similarly tasty, friendly and efficient, and then a return to OR Tambo in plenty of time for our flight. Coming back, we landed at OR Tambo around 4.30pm and met at arrivals by driver Orlando for the transfer to ARH. Nice bit of chill time in the garden before dinner - lovely steak and Pinot Noir. Next day's flight was an 2300 departure from OR Tambo, so we asked for a tour to the Apartheid Museum - which is a must if you've never been - powerful, shocking but ultimately hopeful. The ARH arranged for local guide Itu who was excellent. No issue with a late checkout (2030, after a stunning kudu steak) before a return to OR Tambo and reality. Staff were great! Room was superb - individual, huge bathroom, kingsize bed, super clean, and very quiet. Usual large and individual room. Great little giftshop too. Alastair and Primrose run a very friendly and efficient little hotel - love it. Much prefer this to an airport hotel - recommended

Due to a flight cancellation we sadly did not get to experience everything this beautiful hotel has to offer but our room was excellent. Lovely nights sleep and complimentary tea/coffee/hot chocolate and biscuits. Very tasty breakfast and transfers to and from the airport

From the minute I was met at the airport by Lucky I was made to feel welcome. The short airport transfer in an air conditioned minivan was quick and pleasant to this gorgeous boutique hotel with a bird filled tropical garden. On arrival online check in was professional and quick. Dinner at the Blue Hippo Restaurant was world class and the lanterns in the garden around the pool created a fabulous ambience, so homely and inviting. The interior decor of the hotel including the double volume executive suite were extremely tasteful and luxurious. Highly recommend at least 2 nights to overcome jet lag and enjoy the spa treatments available at the spa upstairs. You will be well looked after by the whole team at this hidden gem, their attention to detail will impress any intrepid traveller.

Thanks to the driver who picked me up at the airport at 3am after a six hour delay in my flight! Despite the delay she was friendly and happy to help out. The hotel is really close to the airport, but not in the flight path, so there is no noise. The rooms are beautifully styled and the food was really nice. All the staff were most helpful. I will need to come back to try the spa another time (-;
