Mains of Taymouth Country Estate Gallops Apartments

Stayed at Granary court for 1 week over the New Year period. We had a number of issues with the house which I reported to reception. Firstly you don’t get access to the property until 4pm to allow them to do there final checks yet when we entered the house the radiator in the main bedroom upstairs wasn’t working, the toilet off the utility room locking mechanism left a lot to be desired, the upstairs shared bathroom has a toilet with half a flushing button and the inside shelves in the wardrobes and bedside cabinet hasn’t seen a duster in a long time. We also discovered a cob web above the cooker and generally not very clean. The heating and hot water stopped working twice, the ground floor kitchen is very cold as the doors have drafts! Hot tub need some maintenance as not working at capacity. Beds were comfortable and kitchen area was well kitted out. Over priced in my opinion for what we got and the issues we were faced with. I think you need to revisit your entry and exit times for all properties and rethink the need to stay for 1 week over the festive period.

Our third time at Mains of Taymouth this year. We have stayed in the Bell Tower, 12B Maxwells and 11 Maxwells. Each time we have had good weather, although that does not matter so much in such a peaceful place. The whole area is exceptional, with everything kept in tip-top condition. Booking is easy and staff are always on hand. The Courtyard Shop and Restaurant are right on the doorstep, along with walks in all directions. The new Crannog is just minutes away.

Another perfect stay at Mains of Taymouth. Since our first visit in 2014 we have been returning several times a year every year. The location and standard of accommodation is hard to beat. The staff are extremely friendly and nothing is ever a problem. Highly recommended!

It was the highlight of our Easter staying at Mains of Taymouth. Facilities are great, houses are so well equipped - the kitchen in our holiday home had everything. I think a better check on housekeeping could be in order. Not that they do a bad job but there were a few issues that had been overlooked.

Nice place, well equipped and a fabulous location. We had a fantastic holiday. The accommodation was just starting to feel a bit tired/dated being as it was badged as a 4* property in a luxury resort. We had many beautiful walks from the accommodation and enjoyed local eateries. Sadly we didn't manage to squeeze in a visit to the restaurant on site but the shop was really well stocked.

We have stayed at Mains of Taymouth every March for a number of years now, usually in the Bothy, but this time we took other family with us and stayed in Archway cottage. It is a lovely cottage well laid out and very comfortable, the only criticism we had was it clearly had been recently decorated as there was masking tape still in the bathrooms and clearly had not been cleaned afterwards with the level of dust. Both bathrooms were not particularly clean in fact the upstairs en-suite was very dirty not what we expected, even the complimentary shortbread was out of date by 6 weeks. Housekeeping clearly hadn’t checked the property as basic things for the kitchen were missing but the lovely reception staff promptly dealt with this. We will return but this is not a cheap holiday and sadly this time didn’t feel we got what we paid for.
