Our experience at G-Hotel in Kiel was disappointing, mainly due to their handling of dietary requests. The accommodation itself was fine—the room was clean and comfortable, and our overall stay would have been okay if not for the breakfast issue. We had emailed the hotel before our stay to inform them that we needed a gluten-free breakfast. Upon arrival, we reminded the receptionist, who assured us it would not be a problem. However, the next morning, there was no gluten-free bread available. We waited patiently, assuming it was being prepared. After almost an hour, we reminded the staff again, and only then did they check with the kitchen. The staff member apologized and followed up, but when she returned, she simply said, “Oh, we’re making it now for you.” That’s when we realized—they hadn’t even started preparing it until we reminded them a second time! At that point, we were beyond frustrated. Knowing we would now have to wait even longer, we decided to leave, feeling extremely disappointed and upset. This level of disorganization and lack of consideration was unacceptable, especially since we had informed them well in advance. If you have dietary restrictions, be prepared for poor communication and a lack of preparation. While the accommodation itself was fine, this experience left a bad impression, and we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone needing reliable service for special food requests.
