Visited Sat 29 Nov. My wife and I have visited Forresters Arms most Saturday afternoon for many years enjoying a glass of wines following our walks in the White Horse area. Always a warm welcome and a good selection of wines. On this visit I was ignored at the bar whilst the bar person kept vanishing, I had to ask for service to get some attention. I asked for a wine list 'We don't have one' was the reply. I asked how am I to know the alcohol content of wines, price etc? Response was 'That is a problem'. I bought a glass of wine for my wife which was fine and a pint of bitter for myself which was awful. Bar person made two attempts to fill the glass which was filling with froth more quickly than the beer was being drawn. Taste was poor, not fresh, no sparkle. I left most of the pint and on leaving noticed a sediment in the bottom of the glass. No warmth or welcome feeling in this pub, so no more for us.

A lovely countryside hotel in an beautifiable village location for a one night stay after a day in York. Nice spacious room with a comfortable bed. The dinner choice was good with cheerful and attentive staff looking after use at dinner and at breakfast

Me and my partner chose to eat here while on holiday in the area. The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The food was top notch, both of us massively enjoyed our dinner. Pizza was the best I've ever tasted and everything was fresh and beautiful quality. The perfect place to enjoy a meal on a warm summer evening, highly recommend.

A great pub for a pint. Food was nice but had it's faults. Steak pie was jn the website menu but was disappointingly not available on the night. The chicken pie was light on chicken, heavy on mushrooms. Sticky toffee pudding was very nice, but was smaller than any i've seen anywhere before. White wine spritzer was the most I've ever paid locally, £9.50! Other local pubs are around £7.50. Beware also that a 10% service charge is added. I would have left a tip but certainly not £14, that was taken from me. Sadly eating out is getting very expensive and very much a treat these days. Always disappointing when you don't feel like you have had value for money.

Stopped here for lunch after a test glider flight at the nearby Flying Club. When we arrived the restaurant was fairly quiet but it then rapidly began to fill up with other diners. There were only two ladies behind the bar, sorting out drinks, taking orders and serving food and to say that they were rushed off their feet is almost an understatement. What was very impressive to watch was how well they worked together and coordinated to get everyone served as quickly as possible. So good were they that one of them even noticed my glass was empty and asked me if I wanted a refill. When the food came it was delicious. I had the pie which was lamb with mint. Obviously freshly made, wonderful flavour. As a connoisseur of Caesar salads my wife declared hers to be one of the best she had tasted. So great food and wonderful service.

After a lovely walk exploring the White Horse and Kilburn, we popped into the Forresters Arms for lunch. As soon as you enter the place , you can see that it’s special - lovely atmosphere throughout and fabulous decor. We had Salt and Pepper Squid and a Fish Finger Butty, followed by Black Forest Dessert and coffee. The food and the presentation were divine. We were looked after by the lovely Marianne and nothing was too much trouble ! We felt like we were visiting friends rather than just dining in a pub. I would highly recommend this place, it was our first time there but it won’t be the last!

I brought my family for a Mother's Day lunch on Sunday 10th March, we were booked in for 12.00pm It stated off with the table been set for 6 and not 8, I'd also had a telephone confirmation few days before then a text message also to confirm this as well. We then all placed our orders, my son ordered the pie it was a casserole with a pastry lid with mashed potato and vegetables only to be told after that there was no mashed potato ready yet. I would of thought that the first sitting at 12.00 that this would of been ready? 5 of us had the roast dinners all the carrots on our plates were burnt on one side and raw! The roast potatoes were hard and cold and the vegetables brought out were undercooked cold, and no serving spoons, my plate was red hot, however the food on it was not! The lamb was not great either. My 18 month old granddaughter's vegetables were also undercooked and Emily couldn't feed her them for fearing she would choke. However the burger and salmon were good. I could accept this if you were busy or it was later in the day, but we were the first table to arrive and there were a lot of waiting staff, but none of them seemed to know what was going on. We have had many meals and stayed over and not had any problems before, hence wanting to bring my family here, but unfortunately we won't be coming again as it was a real disappointment. We were asked if everything was okay while she was still walking past our table, not stopping to check if we were okay. I'm not even sure if we had complained on the day that all the roast dinners would of been back in time for us to all eat together. We also shouldn't have to make a complaint when coming out for a Sunday lunch, surely the food should be checked that they are cooked correctly before going out to the diners? The bill also came to over £300.00 this was alot of money for undercooked food.
