Abbey Lodge

The host was very friendly with helpful suggestions on places to eat in Killarney. The location was convenient to see the sites and go out to eat. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The breakfast buffet and menu was extensive, delicious and prepared us for a long day of walking.

The person who greeted us didn't give us any instructions (wifi, breakfast, etc.) and wouldn't let us get out of the car with our 5-month-old baby until we paid. The person working at night also doesn't know anything. The next day, I paid for breakfast, and when we went to the dining room 15 minutes later, they rudely kicked us out (with the baby) because the time was over. They thought we didn't understand English, and we were mistreated and scammed. The room was adequate, a little allergic due to dust, the location is good, however, there are better options at the same place.

We stayed here both before and after a Kerry Way hike, booked by our tour company. Beds were comfortable both times, in different sections of the hotel. Stairs are old and uneven so folks with mobility issues might want to inquire about rooms. Coffee and tea were available all day, but not during the night. Breakfast was to order and was very good. It's a 10 minute walk to the center of Killarney, an easy walk except for sometimes heavy traffic. Cross at the corner, people! Laundry center a block one way, and several small groceries nearby as well, so everything you need. You can also walk right into the park, through lovely gardens, and down to the castle, about 1/2 hour. We enjoyed our stay here. It isn't luxury, and some furnishings are dated, but it's clean and staff are very nice. Also the train station is about 10 minutes away.

We arrived in Kilarney on day 5 of road trip and managed to get the last room in this lovely accommodation Wonderful polite greeting on arrival to an excellent comfortable clean room. The location is excellent and literally 3 minutes walk to all the bars and restaurants but far enough away no noise so a great nights sleep in a very comfortable bed. Fantastic breakfast with polite professional welcoming hosts. Absolutely no reservation in recommending Abbey Lodge.

Great place to stay, warm and welcoming, and the room had a lot of storage. The breakfast was so good, and the staff very nice and friendly. This place is very well-located. There is also a lot of artwork on the walls which I really enjoyed looking at! Would recommend to others!

We stayed here after a week long bike ride around the Ring of Kerry. It was a welcome respite with a nice location close to town. The road it is on is very busy so not the most quiet setting. At night the traffic quiets down, though. Delicious breakfast included.
