Glasson LakeHouse

From beginning to end our stay was excellent. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. Food was outstanding. There was no cocktail the bar staff weren’t willing to make for you, you name it and they made it. We were celebrating a birthday and as you can see in the image they went out of their way to make an occasion of it. Couldn’t recommend enough, worth every penny.

This was my first visit. The word that comes to mind is 'Spectacular'.From the moment we arrived there was a warm welcome. The rooms are so comfortable a nd of course the views over the lake and the surroundings are amazing. The food and service was excellent. A special mention for server, Rebecca. Courteous, funny and most important efficient - everything exactly as ordered. Two minor quibbles - I would like to see a handrail at the bath; and on the same theme, a handrail, even two, along the steep walk down to the lake. My email reveals my age! Nevertheless I hope to return soon. Hopefully at Christmas. Thank you.

Overpriced. Breakfast and service are terrible. Reception welcome was seriously lacking. We were given no information and could feel her annoyance when we asked to split the bill between 3 of us. Service was awful, the staff are so inexperienced and there's no manager to give guidance or direction. Waitresses unable to open a bottle of wine. To be fair at dinner, the starters and main course were delicious, dessert wasn't great, but it was edible. Vegan food wasn't good for dinner or breakfast. We were then overcharged for dinner, but were given complimentary drinks to apologize. Wait times for food and drinks are extremely slow. My sister sat on a very broken chair in the bar. Again some bar staff were extremely inexperienced, had to tell one person more than 3 times the drinks order for 3 people. One man was fab, dropping drinks to the table, but this level of service depending upon who served you. Breakfast was awful, wait times -really slow, we left 2 full plates of food behind us and not one member of staff asked if everything was ok, which I would expect to be normal practice. I got the eggs Benedict, which I love, but there was way too much ham, eggs were undercooked and the sauce was tasteless. My sister is vegan and didn't enjoy her breakfast either. Had to ask 3 times for a coffee before being served. The walls in the rooms are paper thin, you can hear people in the rooms beside you, so this could potentially be a massive issue. We could hear someone snoring from another room, which was quite annoying. One pillow in the room was stained, which wasn't pleasant. Patio area outside of our room, which you couldn't access from the room. Internet connection is slow and non existent in some parts of the hotel. Overall, decor is charming and location is beautiful, but it's way overpriced. I would not be returning.

We had our wedding at Christmas time in Glasson Lakehouse and it was the best decision. The staff made us feel so special and a priority every time we spoke to them from our very first visit. All our guests commented on the beautiful venue, the great service and the quality of the meal. We were back for another wedding since our own and all the staff were so friendly and welcomed us back so well. I have also stayed here for a spa break with friends and it was worth every penny. The spa is fantastic and outdoor hottubs are the perfect way to unwind. I am so glad to call Glasson a very special place for us and will always be happy to have an excuse to come back. Aileen, Remi and their whole team made our wedding day so special and we are so grateful to them all for everything. Only one small point to be aware of is the wedding rate for guests is very high with a small discount only and no "standard wedding rate" like most wedding venues have. That being said, if you're considering Glasson for a wedding, you won't be disappointed! Christmas time is magical with trees and fires lit and I've since attended an outdoor summer wedding here which was just spectacular. Any time of year Glasson is the right choice.

Hi Glasson Lakehouse is a real treat. The staff are very friendly and are lead by a great team. Martina is a great leader, friendly, professional and leads by example. The views at the Lakehouse are exceptional. The food and service are very good also

We had our wedding at Glasson over the May bank holiday weekend and it was a truly magical experience. In particular, we’d like to mention our wedding coordinator Aileen who was absolutely fantastic throughout the whole planning process. Aileen was always available to answer any questions (no matter how small), she was always polite, good humoured and really went above and beyond in terms of the personal touch. She helped organise 2 rounds of golf and dinner for the groom and family the night before the wedding on top of all her wedding day support which was unnecessary but really appreciated. In terms of the wedding day, we were lucky enough to be able to have our drinks reception outside which was brilliant. We ordered the pre-made cocktails and a number of the guests mentioned how much they enjoyed them. I think the thing that most impressed me about our wedding experience in Glasson was the beautiful glass room upstairs which looks out over the lake. The views are spectacular and the room is beautiful and bright throughout the dinner / evening. The food for dinner was also absolutely fantastic (and totally different to the downstairs menu). This was the other big thing that impressed us about Glasson. The food is simple and beautifully prepared, which is perfect for an Irish wedding! We were also impressed with the service, as it seemed like all tables were served more or less at the same time (despite there being 15 tables). This is definitely not the norm based on my experience of other weddings. Another huge plus of the venue is that the bar is in the main room near to the dance floor. This means that the main room and dance floor feel full throughout the night. In other venues where the bar and dance floor are not near (or in different rooms) the dance floor can feel empty and the atmosphere is not as good for the band. This was one of the big reasons we booked Glasson and it makes a huge difference to the wedding night! All in all, we had a truly special experience with Glasson. We could have not have asked for more from Aileen as our wedding coordinator! Thank you so much for everything!
