Sentrim Amboseli Lodge

First off - the website portrayed an entirely different resort. One that looked like intimate outdoor dining (it was a food hall that could easily seat 300. It boasted morning and evening wild game drives. We had to arrange and pay for that separately. The cabins had such poor lighting that we had to use our headlamps inside the tents at night. Even getting there was a fiasco. For starters there was a big communication breakdown with our driver arranged through the hotel who was to pick us up at Amboseli air field. When he didn't show, I messaged the hotel because they never provided his number to me. The hotel said - he's there at the air field now. He wasn't. It was completely empty except for us and the 2 rangers babysitting us because they couldn't leave 2 tourists there on the savanna with the wildlife. After messaging back and forth for an hour - our driver finally showed up. The rangers were NOT happy. Once at the hotel - the service was okay - at our first lunch the dining hall (yes it is vast) was nearly empty so we sat down at a table on the edge that had 3 place settings. The waitress asked us to move to a table with 2 place settings. We did but to a table right next to where the line queued. The original table sat empty our entire meal. The hotel was "all-inclusive" but the meals provided only coffee or hot water for tea - no water or chilled drinks without extra payment. Lastly with regard to service - we each had a backpack and a 20 KG duffle. Our room was as far as possible from reception. Three porters fell all over themselves to separately collect our bags from the driveway and walk with them 15 feet to reception expecting a tip. But when it was time to take bags to the room - a full ten minute walk from reception - they vanished and we hauled our own bags. Same for departure, no one was available to help with bags until we literally got with 10 feet of reception and 2 porters rush up to collect and carry our bags the last ten feet? No thank you!

Very friendly staff and tasty food. The rooms were nice but the shower didn't work properly in both rooms of our group. Location was generally ok. There is a platform with a nice view on Kilimanjaro, the pool is decent as well.

Our group of 19 enjoyed a 2 day stay at Sentrim Amboseli Tented Camp, located about 5 hours drive from Nairobi. The camp’s specious tents spread across different areas( streets) and were well appointed with amenities including attached bathrooms with 24 hours hot and cold water and comfortable beds. The highlight was the stunning Mt. Kilimanjaro view point, best enjoyed during early morning or evening hours. The camp’s proximity to Kimana Gate ( just 3 KM. away) was also a plus. While the meals were generally good with a variety of options, we felt that the vegetarian dishes could be improved. We appreciate the courteous receptions and the staff. One area for improvement would be adding proper lighting in the tents. Overall, a great experience.

Our stay at Sentrim Amboseli Lodge was a mix of good and not-so-good experiences. The rooms were decent and the food had good variety, but service at one of the food stations was inconsistent — we noticed a staff member being very friendly towards Caucasian guests but displaying an unfriendly attitude towards us as Asian guests, which left a poor impression. The lodge also had water issues in the rooms — either no hot water or very low pressure, which was inconvenient after long days on safari. On the positive side, the property offers a lovely viewpoint of Mount Kilimanjaro, and while it is located outside the national park, it’s still fairly close to the entrance. However, the ride there is quite bumpy and dusty. Overall, the lodge has potential with its views and food, but service consistency and maintenance of basic facilities (like water supply) need improvement.

We had a wonderful stay at Sentrim Amboseli Lodge! The place is beautiful, peaceful, and well maintained. What made our experience truly special was the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Everyone went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Highly recommended!
