We stayed 3 nights here for a hiking weekend in the Altmühltal, and we were also here 2 years ago for one night. The hotel has been lovingly made, complete with rooftop sauna, traditional Bavarian-style breakfast and restaurant area, as well as a nice-looking gym which we didn't have time to try. However, I wouldn't say that this hotel is 4 star standard. For example, the internet was shaky, no telephone connection to the reception in the rooms, and the bottled water in the room cost 3.9EUR. Eggs at breakfast are to be paid extra which we thought was a bit petty. The breakfast options were also a little limited - we were especially disappointed at the lack of croissants. All the employees working at the hotel and the Oma Frieda's restaurant opposite were all super friendly and did a great job. The Bavarian Tapas served there was excellent. Unfortunately, we found the host family to be somewhat unprofessional. Our impression was that they very much love their family hotel but they dislike their guests. The samovar was lukewarm and attempts to turn it up to the correct temperature for English Breakfast tea was met with defensiveness from the Chefin. The family also has two huge dogs which they leave in the dining areas. They didn't bother us but some guests might not appreciate this. The "Juniorchefin" (the boss's small daughter) is an intelligent and curious individual, but I personally found her extensive staring throughout dinner and breakfast a little uncomfortable. The next morning, the "Seniorchefin" and the Juniorchefin were sitting together at breakfast whispering and laughing at me. I understand that I don't look local or I might seem a bit weird, but in the future it would be better if they could make their comments in private instead of in front of the guests. Overall I would say that it is a solid and lovingly made hotel with beautiful attached restaurants, but the hotel is more solid 3 star rather than 4 star, and the host family seemed defensive and disdainful of their guests.

Stayed here for 1 night in June 2022 with my wife. Rooms look like they are brand new (probably recentlyrefurbed). All is good, only thing missing might be an aircon. They serve food on the premises which was very enjoybale; also breakfast was really good. So all in all a good stay

Wij sliepen in dit hotel op doorreis vanaf de wintersport in Oostenrijk. Prima kamers, netjes, schoon, ruim en goede bedden. We zaten overigens in het nieuwe gedeelte. We aten un het restaurant. Eenvoudige kaart maar goed eten en vriendelijke bediening. Ook het ontbijt was uitstekend. Er was duidelijk aandacht aan besteed. Zeker een adres om naar terug te keren.

Unser Zimmer war renoviert und sah auf den ersten Blick schön aus, aber leider stellte sich heraus, dass es gravierende Mängel hat: die Matratzen sind knüppelhart, das Holzgestell des Bettes macht bei jeder Bewegung sehr laute Geräusche, es gibt keine Handtuchhaken, der Ventilator auf dem WC ist unfassbar laut, so dass man in der Nacht nicht weiterschlafen konnte, wenn man zur Toilette musste. Der sogenannte Schrank ist 45 cm breit und hat noch nicht einmal die notwendige Tiefe, um den Kleiderbügel ordentlich aufzuhängen (man muss sie quer hängen und damit geht Platz verloren). Der Badspiegel war derart verstaubt, dass man eine Nachricht drauf schreiben konnte. Die Gastwirtin war sehr unfreundlich (kein „Willkommen in unserem Hause“ oder „Hatten Sie eine gute Anreise?“, kein „Guten Morgen“ beim Betreten des Speiseraums. Das Frühstück war gut, allerdings finde ich es nicht in Ordnung, dass die zwei Risenhunde der Gastwirte in einem Raum auf der Sitzbank liegen, dort rumlaufen, wo Speisen offen stehen. Ich persönlich mag keine Hundehaare in der Marmelade… Da an erholsamen Schlaf nicht zu denken war, sind wir nach nur einer Nach abgereist und haben uns eine andere Unterkunft gesucht. Wir mussten natürlich die vollen 3 gebuchten Nächte bezahlen, man ist uns nicht entgegengekommen (z. B. beim nicht verzehrten Frühstück, keine Entschuldigung, kein Bedauern) . Fazit: wir können diesen Gasthof NICHT empfehlen!!! Hier stört der Gast nur.

Wir waren drei Nächte mit Halbpension im Gästehaus untergebracht. Eingecheckt haben wir beim sehr freundlichen Kellner der uns die Schlüssel in die Hand gegeben hat und die Zeiten fürs Abendessen gesagt hat. Sonst keinerlei Info. Die Gastwirtsfamilie war nicht besonders freundlich, vor allem die Herren der Familie ( kein Hallo oder auf Wiedersehen wenn sie anwesend waren) Frühstück und Abendessen waren sehr lecker und auch die Auswahl hat gepasst. Störend war nur, dass wir jeden Abend aufs Neue gefragt wurden ob wir einen Tisch reserviert hätten und wir mussten jeden Abend darauf hinweisen, das wir Hausgäste sind . So viele Gäste waren nicht mit Halbpension da , um sich dass nicht zu merken.Laut Angebot sollte eine Gästekarte mit Ermäßigungen dabei sein, haben wir aber leider nicht bekommen. Als Hinweis: die Hunde der Wirtsfamilie sind immer im Restaurant und liegen da auch auf der Eckbank am Tisch. Für uns kein Problem, da wir Hund lieben und keine Allergie haben. Für Allergiker kann es aber zum Problem werden…

Angeblich 4 Sterne - Hotel, trotz der Voraussetzung für 4 Sterne keine Minibar, keine gepolsterten Stühle und Beistelltisch, sondern 2 harte Holzstühle, auf die wir unsere Koffer legen mussten. Kofferablage gab es auch nicht. Zimmer war sehr eng und sehr warm, deshalb mussten wir das Fenster öffnen und hatten bis nachts den Lärm der Gäste im Außenbereich und der Raucher, die sich unter unserem Fenster trafen. Frühmorgens und spätnachts Geschirrscheppern beim Abräumen, die Küche war unter uns, nur unsere Zimmertür dazwischen. Gerüche aus der Küche drangen bis ins Zimmer. Bad war eine Zumutung, Gestank aus dem Abfluss, Wasser trat aus der Duschkabine aus und überschwemmte den Fußboden. Haare auf dem Fußboden, Schmutz in der Türecke, neben Clopapierhalter braune Spritzer. In der Tür war ein Loch, die Türverkleidung löste sich ab. Um Heizung einzustellen, musste man unter das ca. 1 m breite Fensterbrett kriechen. Beim Frühstück bat ich die Seniorchefin, die großen Hunde der Hotelbetreiber, die durch alle 3 Essräume liefen, nicht in die Essräume zu lassen, da ich Angst vor Hunden habe und es auch unhygienisch finde. Ihre Antwort lautet, das Hotel ist hundefreundlich. Auf der Website stand davon aber nichts , sonst hätte ich nicht dort gebucht. Darauf meinte die Juniorchefin: „Wer keine Tier mag, mag auch keine Menschen.“ Bei der Abreise musste ich mir anhören:“Schön, das Negative verlässt uns.“ Das ist unverschämt und unprofessionell und das Gegenteil von Gastfreundlichkeit.
