So where to begin? We were staying here from 14Dec-12Jan, together with a 2,5 year old and a 5 month old baby. The first impression of the tropical garden with magnificent pool(s), is just a feeling of paradise. The apartments are well equipped for your daily needs: big fridge, cooking abilities, big shower, living room, and private terrace. No tv, what I think is a plus! All the staff are super friendly, especially the Masai guarding the place, our son just loved to play and do crazy with them. The little shop ‘la Bottega’ is really handy for nice quality Italian meats, cheeses, veggies, wines,…ideal for a last minute visit. The village of Cairo itself really gets you to feel the local life. Even though we were a bit everywhere on the island, Kiwengwa boasts one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen (less seaweed on the beach). There’s a sandbank just in front of the residence’s beach, where you can walk all the way to the reef at low tide, and turns out beautiful turquoise colours when rising. The water just feels like a warm bath. And being on the east side, you can always rely on the shade of the palm trees when it’s getting real hot. No sunset on the beach, but you can enjoy that on the first floor of ‘La Campannina’ restaurant. I highly recommend their food too. You can even choose for delivery at your appartement, what’s again pretty handy with small kids. We tried to cook as much ourself as possible. You can find everything you need if you go a bit further to the next part of Kiwengwa. Easy with one of the bikes you can use from the residence. We loved our time here and would love to return some day!

We spent 11 nights at this beautiful, little gem. We decided to rent an apartment on the ground floor, since we were travelling with small children, and it turned out to be a great solution. The apartment was cleaned every day and was equipped with all the kitchenware that we needed during our stay. The ground floor apartment features a porch with an outdoor sofa, where you can relax in the evening looking at the tropical garden and the beautiful lit up pool. Breakfast is delicious and served at the onsite restaurant La Capannina. There is a short walk between the residence and the beach that crosses the local village of Cairo. It is super safe to walk there and the local residents are always very friendly and smiling. The beach is stunning and the residence provides sunbeds to its guests. Last but not least, all staff was absolutely amazing and super friendly, from the Masai guards at the entrance to Nicola, who was the perfect host.

I had the most pleasant of stays in this establishment. The staff is very welcoming, beautiful restaurant and food. Stone throw away from the beautiful white sandy beach. Loved it….rooms are clean and spacious

Fantastic experience. An oasis of peace, everything very clean and well-kept. All those who work there are prepared, friendly and available to guests. The greenery is cared for every day, as is the swimming pool. The owners, even if not always present in the structure, are very helpful and rely on trained staff, including the Masai. Thanks for the wonderful experience

English: We stayed a week in December with a 4 year old child and the experience was unique. The residence is inserted within the local context, in symbiosis with the people and the surrounding village and offers a unique experience to fully live the island. The context is private, the apartments are large and cleaned daily, the staff is always kind and attentive, from the cleaners to the reception. We took advantage of the half-board service (breakfast at the capannina and dinner at the breeze) and we had a great time. The capannina offers a high level of service and the breakfast is fantastic. At the breeze Husein tries to convey the warmth of the place with local and fish dishes. Finally, I recommend excursions through Salomon (present within the village), reliable, organized and always available to plan every desire. The rooms on the top floor are nice but very noisy because they are inside a local village, the balcony is a meter away from the houses of the inhabitants who have roosters, hens, motorbikes... The residence has no services. There is no internal market, the gym seems like a joke, the bench is a wooden board covered in plastic, the restaurant, excellent, is under management and has no benefits for those who are in the residence in addition to being very expensive for Zanzibar. The yoga bar is also under management so they try to make you consume at all costs but the service is very slow and here too the prices are European. The sunbeds are available at the residence but there are a dozen in total, certainly not enough. It does not have WiFi and the sunbeds are stuck together, some decent others in bad condition, some in style others in aluminum like those in the garden of the house also broken. The shade is symbolic, there is a small roof of wood and small sails certainly not in Zanzibar style. You can't move without bumping into the tables that take up most of the beach. Other beaches a little further away offer loungers with straw or canopy umbrellas, wifi and $10 seafood lunches with much better service.
