It's an old building, but it was well kept and well maintained.
I went to the public bath in the morning and it was clean.
It was difficult at first to learn how to lock the door, but I understood it the second time.

Excellent location, a 10 minute walk from the action in Kochi (Hirome Market, castle, etc), yet in a quiet and peaceful bank of the river. The street is just wider than a bicycle way, so if you are driving, yes, that is the right way. You are offered Japanese-style rooms, aged, a bit bundled (typical anyway) with furnishings and appliances. The major upgrade is a proper air conditioning, as opposed to the roaring central air duct which still works, if desired. Staff is helpful, with zero english, but ready to accommodate as much as possible. I'd be happy to stay here again.
