It turns out it was very good when the Germans ran it. Now that the boss has been changed to a Chinese, the experience is not as good as before. The geographical location and landscape architecture are still based on the Germans, which is great. Software has plummeted compared to the days of the Germans, Netflix accounts are not given out in suites, toothbrushes are harder than those used to brush shoes, and rolling paper is the cheapest. The equipment of the suite should at least be upgraded to a certain extent than that of the ordinary room. I don’t know how it can be sold for more than 1,000 yuan a night in the peak season. There are only two bottles of mineral water a day, and if you don't have enough, a bottle costs 50 baht. It's like a cheap hotel. I have been staying there before the epidemic, and I will probably change places in the future. The facilities are old and have not been repaired. The staff are still very nice but there are very few people. They are just strong enough to maintain operations. The food in the restaurant has become unpalatable. Overall, it's a failure and a waste of a perfect location.

Lovely staff, good rooms, comfortable beds, sea views, very satisfying. There is a slight booking problem. The promotion price is wrong, you have to reserve and pay first. It took a while to coordinate. But the trip is responsible. Return it later.

Nice hotel. The little touches made it special ie iced lemon water around the pool and afternoon fruit plate. Enjoyed breakfast and the nice choices. Food was exceptional always flavoursome and fresh. Enjoyed the calming atmosphere. Nice 5 min walk to beautiful beach. Beds very comfy. Amazing views. Waiting staff particularly kind especially Tak and the young lady who served breakfast and the 2 young men who worked at breakfast and evening service. Negatives: in need of a refurbishment in places. We had a huge cleanliness issue in our room that Mr Eric dealt with quickly. I would have given a 5* star review had it not been for this . Sometimes the restaurant closed at lunchtime until 4pm but no notice was given of this. Please inform guests if closing the restaurant at lunchtime so other plans can be made.

We only stayed for one night after leaving a very substandard hotel early. Walking into The Houben was like night and day. The staff were just lovely and the beautiful, spacious room had a view to die for. The room had the most comfortable bed we have slept in, the last three weeks in Thailand. Every part of the place is immaculately clean and beautifully kept. The staff are superb, very professional but also very warm and friendly. It’s situated on a cliff top on the southern end of Koh Lanta with superb sunset views. It’s a relatively small, adult only boutique hotel which was exactly what we were looking for. They offer a sunset tasting menu on a table especially set up to maximise the experience. It was expensive by Thai standards but the whole experience the day before Valentines was unforgettable. I really can’t recommend this place highly enough, I would give it six stars if I could.

What a jewel!!! Absolutely one of the best places in which I have stayed. Kind, helpful wonderful staff, perfect setting, walkable to the village of kan tiang, stunning ocean view with fabulous sunsets, large, generous rooms, fantastic pool and hottub, great pricing. Erik, the owner was so caring and compassionate. I cannot speak highly enough of the Houben and EVERYTHING it has to offer.
