Golden Sun

I have travelled to the Golden Sun apts twce- not out of choice! I went away with a friend and her family several years ago to Golden Sun - this was my second visit to Kos, I had been once prior to this to Kos Town. My third visit to Kos I went away with my dad and brother and he ended up booking here for us! If you're looking for luxury, the Golden Sun is not for you! Decor is old and dated, heavy wooden furniture and dangerous slippery floors, we had a few falls. The pool area is nothing special. I must point out that most of the clientele are chavvy, loud families who have made friends with the owner (can't for the life of me remember his name) returning year after year - this isn't for me, I work in travel and I try not to end up going back to the same place more than once -when it's up to me anyway. The location is fantastic- Tigaki is not very big but you have a ***** of cocktail bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs- something for everyone. The hotel is down a dirt track about 300m, not very far but dark at night as it isn't lit At the end of the path when you're walking down to the bars, the first restaurant on the corner is brilliant- the owner looks like hannibal lecter but he is a top guy! The reason I would recommend Atki Dimis instead is that it is closer to the beach, and much nicer quality apartments- I highly recommend Tigaki it is a lovely little resort but pay a bit more and stay somewhere nicer than Golden Sun- at least until they refurb.

Loved it! The pool is amazing - well kept, quite big, not busy (August only had half the sunbeds taken even though the hotel seemed fairly full) and with a nice setting. The location is great - few minutes stroll to Tavernas, bars, supermarket in Tigaki. Theres a good bakery even closer. We came for 1 week to have 2 different weeks - this one to switch-off, quiet, semi-rural; next week Kos Town.

I loved the family atmosphere and how small it was. George ,Sophia ,Soula and the family were always around and the pool area was never full with plenty of sunbeds for everyone. Food was cooked fresh and I'm sure the veg came from their beautiful garden. Our balcony overlooked the salt lakes and a field with chickens, cows and goats. The sun going down was like silver shimmer over the lake. The rooms were spotless though some TLC in areas were needed. Towels, sheets etc... great. Our shower was excellent always hot and powerful, unfortunately my daughters would not hang up but she didn't mind. I didn't use the kitchen facilities but it looked as if it had everything though a bit of a mish mash with plates, cups etc.. Probably does need better glasses but I managed fine. I have stayed in a lot of places in Tigaki and I would definitely return. The only minor problem was the noise from other guests, (very loud a mixture of nationalities that didn't seen to have respect for other guests} Normally I wouldn't care but 2am onwards it was ridiculous .

Just returned from the golden sun, rooms are basic but you have everything you need there, the pool area was really lovely and the food was great and reasonably priced, the staff could not be more helpful and friendly we had such a lovely time there, just a little walk to the main *****, thank you for making our time there enjoyable

This hotel is an absolute gem. They really do go above and beyond to look after you. Although it may be a 3 star facility - their service is truly 5 star. Chrisoula is the hostess with the mostess! She is such a caring, gracious and lovely person who is always on hand to deliver that impeccable hospitality. Chrisoula made travel arrangements for us on multiple occasions and again, this was a fantastic service. The hotel has some of the best food I've had in Kos. What makes it even better is the truly great value for money they offer whilst also growing most of the ingredients that they use in their cuisine. They even make their own olive oil! Which is truly a delight. The cocktails are fantastic - I had some strawberry dacquiris which were absolutely delicious. Fresh crushed strawberries with ice and a generous dose of booze. So tasty - highly recommended. The accommodation offered fantastic value for money - two bedroom apartment with a beautiful balcony - which is huge; great for a family. We were very happy there and used it as a base for our holiday. The hotel is in a quiet but central Tigaki location with lots of lovely tavernas in close proximity. Sagittarius, Alikes, and Plori to name but a few favourite eateries. The pool is a generous sized and the pool area offers lots of relaxation space. When we were there it was fully booked and it was never crowded. Really spacious and clean, two warm pools with a slide for the kids and a bigger pool for those that can swim. Most of all I want to really compliment the Golden Sun on their warm family atmosphere. It felt like a home from home and made our family feel so welcome. My children even made friends with a local resident (little Angel girl called Mikaela) and we were all so sad to leave them. They made us feel like part of the family whilst there and it is honestly such a special place. This is the second time in 6 years I've been - last time was before covid for a week and this time was for two weeks. Next time maybe 3?!

Friendly family run business, highly recommended! Stayed here for the second time for two weeks with our two kids and my partners mother. Had a great time in the pool, well looked after throughout by the family and great food served at the pool bar! Also makes a great base for exploring the island as sits roughly in the middle of Kos’s coastline. Guaranteed a warm welcome and a great stay, we will be back!
