We spent three nights and four days at the Wilderness Basecamp as apart of our Honeymoon Adventure. It was definitely an adventure. We got in and went to our tent which had a nice bathroom and heat padded water bags for the beds at night and lots of lamps and blankets. We stayed in Tent 1. Every evening it was amazing to hear the sounds outside our tent. We had guards that walked us in the evening to our tent which was very nice and necessary. We saw all of the animals we had on our list. Tons of lions eating meals and cheetah relaxing. Elephants in knocking over trees and smelly hippos in the water. We counted at least 15 at two different locations. The hyenas were very cute. Manfred our guide explained how their laughs are actually them communicating. We saw the whole family of hyenas with all of the babies less than a year. Lots of giraffes, zebras, wilder beasts just grazing and doing their thing. We requested to visit a Masai dwelling and the wilderness camp delivered big time. We were greeted at the door of the village by the by chief and we had a jumping contest. I won! I’m pretty sure they let me win. Back at camp we had great meals prepared by a chef who greeted us each evening. Isaac was our server at meal time. As an avid runner I requested a run up the hills on the camp grounds. That experience with Isaac was priceless! I wish I could have done more but the hills in Kenya are just too much. Our driver was Manfred. He was amazing and knowledgeable on aspects of the grounds. Each evening we saw animals and he explained how to tell if the elephant was aggressive or not. He showed us an elephant’s graveyard and described how the hyenas would eat the leftover bones from the big cats catch. He drove through the rocky terrain and muddy fields with confidence. He was a skillful tour guide and we were very appreciative of his snacks with alcoholic beverages stops along the way with time for a few bathroom breaks on the road. Benson made our stay very memorable by having a conversation with the camp goers each night around the fire. They even celebrated our honeymoon with a cake and dance with the staff present. The cake was delicious and we shared it with everyone. We saw also jackals, monkeys and pumbas (very cute). The meals were very good. We had a two part breakfast everyday which consisted of a smoothie, fruit and a main course of scrambled eggs with beans and bacon. They made their own bread which was really good. The dinner had a protein option along with a vegetarian option. There was always wine and alcohol available. Dessert was also served and we were able to get extra servings with no issues. It was a very memorable and enjoyable stay. We will definitely come back within the next two years to bring our family. Benson, Isaac and Manfred along with our guard made everything run smoothly. We are very thankful for their attentiveness over our Honeymoon. We even purchased the cookbook. They should have t-shirts and sweatshirts to

Can’t recommend Basecamp Wilderness enough. Plenty of “wilderness” to know you are in the wild with all the comfort you need. Elephants and buffalo munching outside the tent at night. Looked after by fabulous people. Thanks to Dorcas and team. Alfonso a great guide. We were lucky enough to see leopard and cheetah and got up close with so many lions, including a giraffe kill. (Gory!)

A truly special place with special people . Made to feel at home immediately with drinks laughing camp fire spear throwing jewellery making. The food is superb and fresh and the rooms very clean and comfortable. Esme was an amazing guide and found us everything we wanted to see and more. A lion hunt and kill was just incredible. Balloon ride at dawn breathtaking. We really want to return one day and will hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you so much all of you x

Can not recommend Basecamp highly enough. The staff will do anything to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible and it truly was. The camp is unfenced and you really feel in the middle of a wilderness. I am looking out from the veranda in our last few hours and can see elephants across the valley. And at night you can hear lions roaring. The tents are comfortable with everything you could possibly need. I liked that WiFi was available in the tents rather than the public areas which made for a a much better atmosphere. The food is delicious. As well as normal game drives (often accompanied by a packed breakfast in the morning or snack and drinks in the evening) we also did a walk in the area around the camp. Finally the animals- the safari experience is second to none- so many lions in particular-just be prepared for some serious off roading- this is a conservancy not the national park so it’s most definitely allowed.

Having stayed at two different Saruni resorts, I absolutely love the amenities at Wilderness. The staff there felt like family, every meal was delicious and the room was clean and amazing! Manfred was our guide and he had over 17 years of experience. We learnt a lot about the animals over the 3d2n we were there.

Our stay was amazing! Everything was perfect from the beginning, the location was convenient, rooms were incredibly clean and luxurious. The atmosphere made us feel like we were in the middle of nowhere with all the amenities we needed. The best part was the staff! They made us feel like a part of their family, really catered to our wants and needs, and really cared about us. We learned so much about their culture and loved the fireside chats. Our guide was the best! Manfred really gave us all we could have wished for on safari. The trip of a lifetime was made possible by Basecamp Wilderness.
