Tanjong Jara Resort, Terengganu - an SLH Hotel

Beautiful resort with warm hospitality. Beach is cleaned in the morning, pollution no fault of the resort of course. They've made some upgrades, which just adds plus points to an already 5 star rating from the family and please visit the Pulihara cabin by the beach for a quick education on turtle conservation, barely saw anyone go over and the people were so friendly. 4th visit to TJR and definitely not the last.

I had an enjoyable stay! From 1 night we extended another night at TJR. We absolutely loved the excellent services and hospitality given by the staff. We booked a Bumbung Room but was upgraded to Anjung Room which was a major love. The view was stunning and we appreciate the privacy. We had the whole adult pool to ourselves. Dinner at Atas Sungei Restaurant was top notch. Chef Ann and Kak Maz were so attentive and very friendly. We enjoyed the food as well! Thank you! The receptionist named Liza was helpful too. We definitely will be back! Ps: Pls check on lizards dropping near windows in the toilet, found many of them. Thanks

Calm and peaceful.

Friendly staff, amenities are good. Near to the sea. The swimming pool is good. Air con in the room fantastic. Service is poor, slow. Hotel is old, rooms must be upgraded. Breakfast is so so... the price you pay is not what you expect.

Tanjong Jara Resort is a place you come to just chill by the pool and beach as the nearest town, Dungun, doesn't really have much going on. The waves were quite strong when I was there in March (tail end of the monsoon season), but the resort had a staff member stationed on the beach watching out for those using it. The main pool was well-used, although it never felt really crowded - could be cleaned more often though, especially the sides. I didn't use the adult pool, which is usually quieter. Breakfast at Di Atas Sungei was semi-buffet with the eat-all-you-want mains ordered off a menu during the weekdays, and full buffet during the weekends. I actually preferred the weekday style. Dinner at Di Atas Sungei was good with the long-serving Chef Ann bringing her infectious energy to the evenings. They are always willing to modify dishes, and even serve something off-menu, if you ask. The service staff are friendly and always make the effort to remember you, although it can be a bit hard getting their attention at times. If you are a big eater or someone who needs a regular 3-meals-a-day however, I strongly recommend you check out the full-board or resident's package, as a la carte can be quite pricey, especially for a couple. The spa was really good - I had a traditional Malay massage and the Ikal-ikal hair treatment. Do check with them if they have any in-house promotions and make sure you book early! They also recently opened a games room at the back of the resort with computer games, foosball table, snooker table, board games and a karaoke room, so families can have something else to do aside from swimming, playing tennis and visiting the turtle conservation centre. Overall, I definitely recommend TJR for a relaxed beach/pool getaway.
