Kununurra Country Club Resort

The location is handy to the shops. The restaurant for dinner and breakfast are good, but the bathrooms are disgusting. We have five rooms as we are a group of ten and two are just ok, but three look like the showers and basin haven’t been cleaned for months. Yuk! The beds have not been made well as the sheets are crumpled and are lumpy. We have had to remake the beds so the bottom sheets are flat. There is also a very large dead grasshopper in the corner by the window, that was here on arrival and looks like he has been here for a lot longer. Aircon and fan are good, as is the pool. The housekeeping really lets the place down and considering the cost per night I would not recommend staying here. These is more but I can’t be bothered listing the other things.

The Hotel is in the centre of town but designed in such a way that you feel like you are in a quiet oasis. You are a few minutes walk from the supermarket, pubs and cafes. The room was well designed and comfortable. The bed was a king size, and the room very quiet - great sleep quality. The pool was lovely and shaded to protect from the strong sun. The gardens and surrounds were very well maintained and offer lots of shade and greenery which attracts some lovely bird life. The restaurant food was delicious, albeit not cheap. We had dinner and it was excellent and served on a nice outdoor deck area. There is limited periods of time the restaurant is open (6-8pm from memory) and not open for lunch - most people are out on tours I guess. This is a regional Hotel, and getting a little tired in some areas, but overall it is very good with nice features. The Hotel provided a complimentary pick up and drop off service for the airport which worked really well. We dealt with a number of staff during our stay and they were all very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again.

Dirty rooms poor maintenance. Toilet black and surfaces filthy. Fallen tiles, holes in skirting. Filthy walls. Stayed 3 nights room never cleaned, rubbish bin emptied in last day then floor tiles left with dirty stick substance and on desk. Arrived back to a dirtier room. Restaurant way over priced for average food and self order. $39-$60 mains. $36 for green salad. Much better options elsewhere. Stayed many times before but never again.

Whilst Kununurra is replete with lodging options, none of them rise above three stars and the KCC is at the top of the heap. The accommodations are comfortable, the comestibles are wholesome and tasty and you can even get your laundry done if you’ve just arrived off the Gibb River Road. The good: our room (king + single bed) was modern, clean, quiet, spacious and comfortable. Everything expected was there and it mostly worked as expected. The king bed was comfortable, the linens crisp and clean and we were each able to find a favourite pillow. The ensuite bathroom worked well for our needs. The not so good: morning showers contend for what must be limited hot water so get in early or make it quick.

Stayed here for 3 days. Staff very accomodating. Rooms good. Bed was very comfortable. Kelly’s Restaurant is a winner. Restaurant not budget price but food is not budget either. So you get what you pay for. Pretty damn good place to spend a few nights in Kununurra.
