Hotel Arenal Springs Resort & Spa

Of the 6 hotels we stayed at during the holiday Arsenal Springs was the most perplexing. The location is excellent for your visit and the hotel has numerous trips available (see image attached). Within the grounds all the facilities are available from gym to laundry and the gardens are immaculate and I’d recommend the poolside amenities. The primary cause for a 3 star review was the food. The breakfast area is so poorly set out that everyone gets in each others way, and getting a coffee was a lottery. They have the space but lack the managerial vision. This food dilemma continues with the restaurants, which whilst offering decent fare do so at a price well above what we paid elsewhere. This is not a hotel, more a series of lodges, split into two, well equipped but lacking any sound proofing. You hear literally everything your neighbour does! Again this is simple to rectify but not a management priority It is a real pity, because this could be an nailed on 5 star with the appropriate leadership.

We will most certainly be back to Arenal Springs Resort! We went with our two kids (ages 10 and 12) and my parents and all had the best time! The resort was a tropical paradise with lush foliage, relaxing springs, and beautiful birds and wildlife. The staff was helpful and fun - especially golf cart rides with Joel, and the food was delicious! I'm still thinking about the breakfast and best-tasting fruit! My son celebrated his 10th birthday on our first day there, which we let them know upon booking. They made him feel special by decorating the room and our dinner table. When it was time to sing, the solo guitarist that night played while the restaurant sang and he wished on his firework of a candle. It was by far his most memorable birthday surprise!

We loved the overall feel of the resort. We found the staff to be friendly, the environment very clean and the hot springs were great. We found the food overpriced and the quality was hit and miss. The room was nice, but not what up to what I perceive a 5 star resort to be. The resort is conveniently located near many things you want to do in the area and we used Uber reliably throughout our trip to get back and forth.

The most relaxed I’ve been in years. We originally checked into a hotel down the road and it was unacceptable. In a panic, we called and spoke to a very helper desk clerk who reassured us, booked our room and sent a driver to pick us up. The room is over the top fabulous a 5 star quality in every way. Our room is like a small cottage and we have a porch overlooking the Yofa center, hammocks, reading area and playground. I’ve enjoyed sitting on the porch so much and our room is convenient to everything. The restaurants and staff are tops! I’ve stayed in Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton’s and many other fine hotels and none beat this place. Plus, we arrived during the off-season and the price is a real bargain!! I’ll be back!

Second time in CR, first time with my family (12 and 15 yr old). I definitely recommend this stay. What we liked - 1 - the size of the hotel is perfect, not crowded at all but enough people to have an atmosphere. My kids had fun meeting other teens and playing VB and football on the big grassy lawn. Lots of space for running around safely! 2 - I do not look forward to hotel restaurants, they typically are underwhelming. We enjoyed both dinners at the Italian and CR restaurants, and the breakfast was very impressive. Tons of options, freshly prepared. 3 - the pool was clean and relaxing. various levels of hot thermal pools, and a cold side, both with bar seating in the water. Not a pool to play catch in, but fine for splashing around and enjoying the scenery (and scenery there is) 4 - rooms were clean and accomodating. standard double bed layout, but had all the necessities, an attentive turn down and cleaning service, and decently comfortable beds. No complaints. 5 - easy walk to the nature park down the road if thats your thing (we didn't) and a quick $5 uber into La Fortuna.

Wonderful 4 day stay with our 2 adult children staying next door. Food delicious, people always helpful with a friendly and warm smile. Loved Jessica at the spa! The Swedish massage/ facial was amazing. Beautiful resort and highly recommend!
