Hotel du Glacier

Just back home from a week at Hotel du Glacier. Amazing trip! Friendly welcome. Everything as we wished. Rooms clean, tidy and well appointed. Cleaned every day. Staff were really friendly. Suzanne fabulous - recommended great restaurants for each night and even booked them for us. Breakfasts in the hotel also good - nice selection of cheese/ham/fruit/bakeries and lovely coffee (with top ups). Good also to be able to have a drink in the bar before and/or after dinner. Short walk to ski bus or 5-10 minutes walk to the slope side. Altogether perfect experience. Thanks so much!!!

I’m not a particularly prolific reviewer but having just come back from a last-minute ski trip to La Thuile I have to contribute and add to the numerous glowing reviews for this hotel and Susanna who made my stay extremely pleasant by virtue of being such a great host. Every morning I’d be greeted at breakfast with a large steaming jug of coffee and then indulge myself in some amazing croissants along with the rest of the breakfast buffet. When I had my list of places to eat for dinner, she’d ring up and get me a table booked. Her, her husband and team were always busy making sure everyone was looked after and it was nice to chat with her most evenings. You really feel like she’s happy to have you and takes an interest in everyone who checks in. The hotel itself is about a 10 minute talk from the centre of town where most of the restaurants are (although very close to Lo Tata where I had 2 amazing meals and great service during my week away) and 15 mins to the more modern complex near the gondola where the supermarket is. There’s a ski bus stop just outside and it’s a 10min walk to the side of where some of the runs end converge in front of the gondola, from which you can scoot down to the Bosco Express chairlift to get up the mountain. Sidenote: since the ski bus runs in a one-way loop it’s preferable (weather-permitting) to walk back to the hotel at the end of the day as it’s essentially at the end of the route, making it 5 mins to the gondola but an age to get back. La Thuile isn’t a party town by any means but the hotel’s location means it’s dead quiet at night making for a sound night’s sleep. I found the bed and pillows comfortable and the rooms are by default toasty but can easily be adjusted if you prefer it to be cooler. There were plenty of plug sockets and the bathroom had all the usual essentials, with the shower getting up to temperature very quickly. The ski boot room is out the front so each morning it was quick and easy to grab my stuff then catch the bus. If you’re coming to La Thuile to ski or do something in the summer then definitely take this place into consideration if you want something a little more personal then the giant hotel near the gondola station (which when I left was about to have 500 kids arrive for a school ski trip). Were I ever ski in La Thuile again I would 100% go back here!

I have never been compelled so much to leave such a fantastic review of this amazing hotel run by Susanna and her husband Corrado. We have visited La Thuile for 8 years and have always used the Planibel Residence. This hotel is streets above the Planibel and wish we had used it before. Susanna and her husband were so welcoming and ALWAYS on call to help with any situation. Whilst on holiday I unfortunately had an accident and she was always on hand to supply me with fresh ice packs. The room was cleaned and serviced everyday and was spotless!!! Breakfast was amazing too! The smell of coffee and croissants was so enticing every morning. With a wide range of fruit, meats, cereal, breads and yogurts to choose from. There was also a boot room to dry and store skis/boots/snowboards. Although, we kept our skis & boots at Berthod sport for a refundable deposit of €5 per item for the week. This meant that we didn’t have to carry equipment back and forwards to the hotel every day. (This was available as we booked with Crystal Ski) Whilst we were there it snowed quite heavily and both Susanna and Corrado were outside in the car park clearing the snow-looking after the safety of their guests. Our overall experience was so amazing, we have booked to return in February 2025. We look forward to seeing Susanna and Corrado next year!

Had a fantastic week at Hotel Du Glacier, Spotlessly clean, rooms very comfortable. What makes this hotel so special Susanna and Corrado, the perfect hosts, they are so helpful and kind, Susanna will recommend and book restaurants for you along with sharing her local knowledge. We look forward to returning!

Great experience in Hotel du Glacier this week. Thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. We had lovely breakfast each morning. The Staff are great and very thoughtful and will book restaurants in the local town for you. Large comfortable beds and very clean rooms. Will certainly come back.
