On St George's Quay along the River Lune there's a fantastic gastro-pub that's called the Wagon&Horses that's housed in a very historic three floored building. This brilliant pub was once called the Cart&Horses and it was a local beer house but now its a very upmarket gastro-pub. The interior is brilliant with many upmarket fixture's and feature's and upmarket decor and furnishings and superb seating area's throughout the whole pubs interior and it's a real joy to visit. It offers a superb range of food and drinks and nice accommodation and when we visited it was very busy. We were walking along the River Lune on a sunny day and went in here for a few beers as they serve a decent range of beer's.On our visit we had a few glasse's of cask ales which were perfectly served and were well priced considering the pub we were in and were this superb pub is located. Its a superb gastro-pub that's located in a picturesque area of Lancaster and it's well worth going to.(This is my second review of the Wagon&Horses). Opening Hours. Monday-Saturday-08.00-23.00. Sunday-08.00-22.00.

The Wagon & Horses Pub is a pub I always look forward to visiting on any trip to Lancaster I take, been here before on previous trips to Lancaster, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit to here. A great looking pub,an historic three story pub, interior is superb, light and airy, pubby decor and furnishings, a cool looking serving bar dominates the main room and there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its just a really good pub to unwind in. We were here on a beautiful April afternoon, we ordered pale ale's, these were served in excellent condition, we chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub while we sipped our pale ale's. My pale ale was really good, a crisp, golden, hoppy pale ale, hints of toffee and a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a smooth finish, a classic British pale ale served in a classic British pub, its hardly surprising that this pub is so popular with real ale's of this quality. We both really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to The Wagon & Horses Pub we had a great time. The Wagon & Horses Pub is easy to locate along St George's Quay. Opening hours are; Monday to Friday, midday till 11pm. Saturday, midday till midnight. Sunday, midday till 10.30pm. Well worth checking out if you're in the area near the majestic River Lune.

Had 1 night stay 30th June. The pub and staff were great. Food and breakfast were excellent, room was very nice and clean. Great location about 5 minutes walk from centre and the castle. My wife left her phone charger in the room and they very kindly posted out to us. Can't wait to stay again

We went for a meal last night and I was not impressed. The meal took 45 minutes to come as they were short staffed and we wouldn't have minded if the food had been decent when it did arrive but it really wasn't. We ordered fish and chips with garden peas and it came with mushy peas, ok no bother a small mistake which we could forgive as the meal as a whole was nice. We also ordered a burger. We paid 1.50 for bacon to be added and I kid you not it was the tiniest peoce of bacon ever and I thought this was a complete rip off, the fries were luke warm and we ended up not eating them, the burger itself was fine. We also ordered a hot dog and this is the meal that made my blood boil.... the menu describes a locally sourced bratwurst hotdogs, its sounded like something special and I'm telling you now, this was the type of hotdogs you get in a jar from a supermarket, it was tiny. It was in a bun which was too small. I'd finished it in 6 mouthfuls and honestly if i hadn't been so hungry i wouldn't have eaten it all. It wasn't very nice. The fries were also luke warm. I wanted to complain but the staff were so busy and I felt so sorry for them as other tables had complained to them already and didn't have the heart ....i also didn't have time to wait for a free coffee or whatever other meaningless apology we would be offered..... frankly nothing but our money back would have been acceptable. We won't be going back ever again and will not be recommending to anyone. Just to note, the staff behind the bar were great, very polite, very efficient and really friendly and they made us aware they were short staffed and the meals might take a little longer than usual.

Nice pub and good beer .food not a very good standard .my wife had fish and chips ,fish was ok but the chips looked like they had been cooked the day before and were dry and many inedible. My burger was burnt in places the blue cheese topping was just a lump of unmelting mess and the coleslaw which was supposed to be served on a bed of lettuce came on a limp single leaf .not very appetising and not at all like the photos . Although I would go back for a drink I would definitely think again about eating there.
