Family of 4(2 adults, 2 children) 45m2 2 bed. Heated ski room but no ski boot heaters in the lockers means wet ski boots every morning (fine of €400 if you take your boots up to overheated apartment)threadbare carpets, tiny food prep area, marks on the walls broken taps/furniture. Not exactly 4 star accommodation. ‘Reception’ open occasionally and is locked all other times so no access to main building. Block C right next to Grizzly chair lift so ski in/out however this was more luck than judgment for us as we didn’t find out allocation until arrival (Peak Retreats no help at all) No towels provided for ‘spa’, hot tub falling apart with one side not working, loads and loads of stairs! Will not be returning to this accommodation.

Hotel and Staff This hotel has a very appealing chalet look to it and each apartment is beautifully laid out in chalet style. The heated pool and hot tub is brilliant to slink into after a day of skiing, very luxurious except for the cold walk down to the pool. Why I have not given a it a five star review and four instead is because the staff are uninterested in you and your stay and seem fairly sour towards customers. Hotel Position Peisey-Vallandry is a great position in Les Arcs for ski access with the Grizzly lift, Vallandry and the Vanoise Express. Which can get you to the rest of Les Arcs (Grizzly and Vallandry via Derby and Transarc) and also La Plagne. There is also a supermarket and excellent pizza places around the hotel. Skis can be rented from nearby also. Facilities Boot room is spacious and all that is needed although is at the bottom of some steps which are tricky to use when in ski boots and encumbered in skis, helmets and goggles.

From the moment we arrived we were disappointed with the service and quality received. Check in did not occur at 5pm as we were advised. This check in is already late and we had driven quite far and made sure to time it right so it was very frustrating not to be able to check in on time. In addition the help at the counter was nonexistent - every time we asked we were just told it would be "soon". We waited 45 minutes total for our check in as did many others and the reception was so full there was nowhere for the kids to even sit. During our entire stay we had no wifi or TV. We complained several times to the front desk and were told it was difficult to get a signal on the mountain. We checked next door at the hotel and they advised they had no problem. I called the front desk and asked if there was a DVD player to rent, as I had read online, and I was told there was but we had to "come see" if there were any English DVDs because the lady at the front wasn't sure. I mean this was a complete joke. WiFi is listed as an amenity and my husband needed it for work, besides the needs of the kids, it was incredibly inconvenient for him not to have it as advertised. We went to the spa facilities only to find out, when we were all in our bathing suits, that there were no towels available. I have never heard of this in a spa so we went to reception who said they could not provide towels either and we had to go to our room - outside and through the snow - to a different building to get towels. It was absolutely ridiculous. We received a ticket on the last day for parking in a "service" spot when we only parked there to get ready to load our car because we could not get up the road any closer to our chalet because the service vehicles were parking in the road! We spoke to reception and they said there was nothing they could do. It was literally the only place we could park - because the service van was in our way - and then we got a ticket. Needless to say we will never be staying at one of these properties again!

Overall, this accommodation was simply not worth returning to, as the cleanliness, amenities, and facilities were just not worth the cost. We arrived early as we were worried about driving in an ongoing storm, and unfortunately missed the wording in our rental agreement about the 5PM check-in. Make sure you spot that if you stay here! We were forced to wait for 6 hours for our room, until just after 5PM, with no recourse. This one is completely our fault though as we missed this stipulation when reserving. We tried calling the day before but were unable to reach a human on the phone (bad sign!). Our room was located far away from the main building (where the spa & reception is), and we had to take a staircase, elevator, and then walk back outside along a never-shoveled, icy path to get to our room once we were parked up there. The room itself had dirty bathrooms and a dirty kitchen sink when we entered. Not marginally dirty - I mean moldy, disgusting looking. The showers were simply packed with mold in all of the tilework. This is a symptom of not cleaning thoroughly, regularly. The shower pressure in one of our two bathrooms was just a trickle, making it unusable. Also, the wi-fi signal was not strong enough to even reach our unit. We were excited to be able to do laundry, but the laundry room was located down an outdoor, 68-step staircase (I counted), and then down a long hill. It was 15 euros per tiny load (for a wash and dry), and we were YELLED at by a receptionist for using incorrect tokens, even though they were the ones provided by them. They were very annoyed and reminded us how ignorant we are for using the incorrect tokens, even though they just gave them to us the day prior. The jacuzzi in the spa is kept at 93deg F. Let me tell you how disappointing it is to return from a long ski day, walk down the outdoor 68-step staircase in your bathing suit, and enter a luke-warm jacuzzi. It should be a criminal offence! Most of the saunas and steam rooms are kept off during the day, and one of the steam rooms smelled like you were entering someone's used gym sneaker. The functinal saunas & steam rooms fill to capacity regularly, which is frustrating considering there are empty ones that could be in use if management cared to turn them on. We picked & chose what to complain to the staff about, as we don't like spending our hard earned vacations complaining and seeking restitution. We had them reclean the bathrooms, and felt everything else was outside of reception's control so didn't bother. The property has a lot of potential: The buildings seem relatively nice, the location on the slopes is superb, and Vallandry/Paradiski is quite special. But the management just doesn't seem interested in running the facility to the standard we were expecting (shoveling paths, utilizing all spa facilities, improving wifi access, cleaning). Despite all of this, we had a fantastic vacation - just not because of where we stayed. Val

Positives: Ski in/ski out, with access to a good lift; easy access to helpful ski hire shop; pool and spa nice. Negatives: First day a complete shambles - room not ready until v late in day with no communication. Only English spoken by Receptionist was ‘I don’t know’, combined with a lack of interest/care; over 100 steep and icy outdoor steps up the mountain to apartment - dragging all the luggage up here was not easy. Also needed to use these steps to get to pool area; apartment v small; steep and icy walk to village; shuttle from train station - ‘Travelski’ - absolutely appalling. Pre-booked taxi did not turn up, with no apology or explanation. All a bit of a shambles. Sadly we definitely would not recommend.

We experienced a number of problems: 1. Lack of proper cleaning: When we opened the sofa bed we found the sheets had not been changed and there was hair and food (one of the previous guests had clearly been eating pretzels) in the bed and a wrapper under the bed. 2. The coffee machine still had a filter with coffee grounds in it. 3. There were no pillow cases, quilt covers or towels for the guests using the sofa bed. 4. The sleeping arrangements: We were told, in response to an email enquiry made in advance, that there were two single beds in the living room. In fact, it is one sofa bed so in effect a double bed with two mattresses. 5. It is advertised as an apartment for eight people but one of the bedrooms is very small, has bunk beds in and no exterior windows so gets very stuffy. There were only six chairs for eight people. 6. Perhaps most concerning of all (as we accept things can sometimes go wrong) was our experience of the reaction from the manager and reception staff when we complained. There was an attempt to avoid responsibility by suggesting (i) we should have checked the sofa bed on arrival, (ii) that the email about the beds did not come from the residence but was from the head office and (iii) it was the fault of the previous guests that the coffee machine was dirty. We have stayed in a different CGH residence in another location and were very impressed by the set-up and service on that occasion. Sadly, our experience at L’Oree des Cimes was very different and, in my view, unacceptable.

We have been regulars at this resort but our December 2022 stay will be the last one. When we arrived on 17 December, the place was not ready: Internet was down, the parking gates were not working, the Jacuzzi and the area where to put your ski material smelt like the worst public toilets, etc. Whilst some problem got sorted by the time we left (the following Saturday), this is not satisfactory especially when you pay 4,000 Euros per week (just for accommodation). At that price you get much better options in Peisey. Moreover, the apartments are outdated and duplex apartments not very functional. We were 6 people and had booked a duplex apartment for 8 people which were told were bigger than what we had last year but, with only one sofa and an individual chair, 5 people (at most) could seat in front of the TV. The 2 bedrooms upstairs were under the roof so little space to move around without hitting your heads. We will not come back especially since the personel did not care about making things better (dishwahsher not working etc.)
