Hotel Los Templarios
4.1/516 Reviews
Los Templarios is just off the Camino down a side street in the old city of Ponferrada and would be easy to miss. On arrival the receptionist spoke good English and was very helpful. The hotel has a lift which is a welcome amenity after dragging a bag up stairs in many hotels along the Camino. Everything seemed very clean. It was pretty cool outside but the room heating was excellent - in fact almost too good in that it heated the room so quickly that I needed to open the window. The only window looked out on an air shaft and was frosted so that it let in very little light. I guess the frosting is because the windows opposite are fairly close but one could always shut the curtain when necessary and let in a bit more light when privacy is not needed. The room was very small with a big twin bed. It was so small that when I opened my suitcase on the floor the door could not be fully opened. The bathroom had a hand held shower over a half size bath with no shower curtain. A sure recipe for disaster and I had managed to soak most of the room by the time I finished showering. My other grumble concerns the keys and key card. There were 2 keys that were almost identical, one for the room and the other for the front door. There was also a sort of key card used to turn on the power that is attached on the same ring. The power turned off immediately that the key card was removed from the slot plunging the room into darkness and presenting a major challenge to get a key (the right key!) into the key hole to unlock the door. There must be a better option - perhaps separate key rings. There isn't much choice of accommodation in the Ponferrada old city so Los Templarios maybe as good as it gets and in the end it is clean with helpful staff so good enough for a night's stay.

The hotel is located in the heart of the city centre, the hotel is located in the heart of the city centre. The bathroom is all right. Wifi is slow and cut all the time. Fruit is very basic. Restaurant to get out of the door.

We were 2 people, 1 night in our visit to Leon. We booked with a box of experiences without any problem, as no longer there were double rooms, they gave us a family room (for 5 pax) for €10 more. The hotel is very well located, 2 minutes from the Cathedral. The breakfast that entered into our offer of the safe, without being super complete, had everything, and well, bread, newly made cooking, biscuit, cereals, jam, cheese ... The huge room, with a larger kitchen than my house. The room is in the floor, the room is shaken, but you don't need to stick. I don't put it 5* for 3 aspects that we haven't liked, the first is that the bathroom is small, not 2 people, it's more, to be in the washroom you have to close the door, we were 2, I can't imagine it being 5 people, there is overlooking place for have made a bigger bath in this family room, there is no hair dryer, I found I had to go out the street with wet hair because as from 15:00 there is nobody in reception, you can't ask you, it's strange a hotel without it, They should at least inform you about it to take you home. The hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable. The third and most important thing is that the bed is nothing comfortable, there are 5 beds, we sleep in the double, very soft, at 4:00 we were already wake with kidney pain, I don't know how the others will be 4.
Domus Oncinae
4.3/547 Reviews
We traveled with a 2 months baby and stayed just for one night. Arrived on a rainy evening after 7 hours drive from Barcelona. We had a warm welcome by Daniel, who provided a smooth and fast check-in, and already made us feel comfortable, after long journey. The hotel design and facilities are great, themed as a Roman house ”Domus”, from the common areas to the rooms we loved it! Morning after we were greet and served breakfast by the ”Manager” (which I don't recall his name) who made us feel like at home. Even it was a short stay, we had a wonderful experience! Now we have a favorite stop when traveling from Barcelona to Santiago!
