Myself and Husband were staying at a nearby hotel and on our first night of arrival was recommended to go to their bar as our hotel bar was closed. As soon as we arrived Thelka welcomed us, there was a lovely atmosphere around the hotel, everyone relaxed with gentle background music. Sadly the hotel we stayed at was not as expected and the following day we went back to Pela for drinks on the evening, we asked Thelka if we were able to use their pool if we purchased drinks and food etc, she was so kind and welcomed us, Thelka and Dion were very attentive to their guests, the pool area and dining area were spotless, a well organised establishment with staff that genuinely put their guests first. Although we never stayed in the hotel rooms from the outside they looked clean and well looked after, we ate lunch three times there and on each occasion the food was tasty. I can honestly say if we ever came back to the area Pela would be the hotel I would choose based on Thelka and Dion's hospitality. We really enjoyed the time we spent there Thankyou for having us Sonia and Wayne 😊

Read the reviews, read up on TA, went on forums, researched Pela Hotel as I couldn’t believe all the positivity about it. Alas, it’s all 100% true, it’s a wonderful lovely hotel, ran impeccably by Thelka & her Fathers team, from top to bottom everyone of them are fabulous, Dionysus behind the bar is a star. Very clean & tidy Hotel, breakfast was a good buffet selection, more than adequate, we had a few lunches at poolside, again, very good, we ate out, so can’t comment on dinner but those that did said it was very good. Biggest compliment I can say is… we’re going to return next year 1st time we’ve ever done that to a hotel in over 30 years of travel, so that says it all from us, plus are friends would return too, a lovely vibe about the place, lovely 10 minute walk on beach road to village, lovely tavernas in village, everyone so friendly, just book it & go 😎🇬🇷👍

Have just returned from a weeks stay at Pela Hotel. Pela is a charming hotel, well run by the owners and staff. Stayed in a superior room and to me and my wife it was perfect. We were also with friends who felt the same. Its very quiet hardly any noise anwywhere. Pool area is great plenty of different drinks available, along with a menu. It's about 1km to town where all the restaurants and main beach is. We have already decided to return next year. Really liked the hotel and the area.

We had read mixed reviews on this hotel but have decided that maybe the negative reviews had been left by people who have not experienced Greece too often. Yes, rooms are basic, but they are clean. There is a fridge but no kettle so you may want to bring your own travel kettle. The hairdryer is the old type that is attached to the wall. The beds are probably the most comfortable we have slept in whilst on holiday. Breakfast is continental with the usual choices of yoghurt, fruit, ham , cheese, boiled eggs, etc, and is all very nice. There are always plenty of sunbeds available by the pool even in August! The pool bar offers a good selection of drinks and snacks. We recommend the set evening menu it is excellent value at only 14 euros for 4 courses. The wine is also great value at only 10 euros for a litre. The service has been great and the family are lovely. This hotel may not be for you if you do not like animals. There are lots of cats and a couple of dogs.

Beautiful family run hotel. If you want to experience an authentic Greece with traditional cooked meals then this is the place for you. 3 course menu was on offer for 14 Euros, which is excellent value and traditionally cooked, service when you dine is impeccable, quick and efficient. This is a two star rated hotel so as other reviews have stated, yes it's basic but exceptionally clean and staff are very helpful, nothing is to much trouble. Beds are also comfortable, air conditioning is an extra cost per day, but in my eyes, worth it for a comfortable night's sleep. Swimming pool is kept immaculate for guests to enjoy. Staff work very hard and work long hours to ensure you have a nice holiday. My only honest criticism is,, returning guests are essential for the hotel which is totally understandable, but seem to dominate the environment.

I’ve tried to leave an honest and fair review. As you can see from many of the 5* reviews this is a hotel that has many returning guests, therefore a lot of the reviews lack balance IMO. Good points: the grounds of the hotel are nice and well maintained. The hotel is in a nice quiet location, close to the beach and a short walk from the small village. Food and drinks at the bar are good and reasonably priced. Bad points: The rooms really are dated. I’ve been holidaying all over Greece for a very long time now, and these rooms are 90s Greece basic. Honestly they really could do with renovating at this point. The owner and staff were pleasant enough, however I can’t say the same for some of the esteemed guests, some of whom acted like they owned the place.

We have just returned from another very successful holiday at The Pela, our 10th visit in the last 12 years. The hotel is a Greek 2 star so no frills, rooms are basic but all have a bathroom with shower and a fridge, air conditioning is available at an extra charge. I would suggest people book bed and breakfast here. The hotel provides a buffet breakfast with a good selection available. The poolside bar has an extensive menu and the food is excellent. In the evening the terrace provides an ideal place to enjoy a meal. Each evening a traditional 4 course Greek meal is available for Euro 14 or you can choose a la carte. We ate in 4 or 5 evenings during our 2 week stay and on other nights strolled into the village to enjoy one of the good selection of traditional tavernas. Thekla, her dad and Dion go overboard to welcome you and ensure that you have the best holiday ever at this very friendly hotel whether you are a first time visitor or one of the many, many regulars that return year after year, nothing is too much trouble. Thekla is an animal lover and is known for rescuing abandoned and ill treated cats which are returned to health and then sent usually to Holland for adoption, so yes there are cats around, but they are not a problem. Skala Kallonis as a resort has worked hard over the years to eradicate the problem of stray cats and dogs that plague a lot of Greek resorts and their efforts are certainly paying off. We will certainly return to The Pela again next year, it is like returning home, it is the friendliest hotel I have ever stayed in, but please remember if visiting for the first time it is a traditional Greek family run basic hotel and it is certainly not a Hilton or Sheraton
