Red Lion Inn

Visited for a meal with my daughter when a couple attended who were collecting their son from his shift in the kitchen. They approached the manager to discuss their sons hours as he had asked for more to be told there weren’t any, only for the manager to take a new person. The manager and landlord had been sat at a table between working in the bar drinking alcohol and appeared drunk and did not like the couple asking about the hours. He became extremely aggressive, rude and accused the couple of some awful things and shouted for them to get out. As the couple and their son were attempting to leave, the Landlord physically grabbed the lady and yanked her glass out of her hand. I have never seen anything like it and will not be going back.

Came into the red lion with my daughter to celebrate my birthday. Everything was fine until I noticed how much the landlord was drinking and sat on his own. Pub was reasonably busy and we enjoyed a nice meal. My daughter noticed voices getting louder in the pub over a small thing about hours over a current worker. Then out of the blue the aggressive behaviour of the landlord, the shouting and rudeness was very uncalled for and showed a complete lack of professionalism and respect for other guests on a matter so small and I felt sorry for the couple getting the barrage of abuse!!...clearly the landlord had too much to drink.... Rest assured we won't be going back!!

We always love coming to the red lion went on Friday with family for my birthday what can I say had the most amazing meal food is always fantastic and Catherine and Andy are great hosts they made my birthday extra special so went back on Saturday for another meal again it was out of this world thank you so much for a great weekend

Called in after a long day travelling around. A simply wonderful country pub with great food and great staff. We were welcomed from the moment we went in and the food was very, very good. Anyone staying nearby please visit. You will not be disappointed.

I had a fantastic stay. The couple that run it are amazing. So friendly and thinking of what guests might need. Food was fantastic and very friendly locals in the evening to mix with as well. I could hardly stop talking about it with friends and family afterwards. Very close to Oulton Park so great for the motorsport action (or other events there) and parking was good too. The food was very good. Can’t wait to stay there again

Not the best….. The couple running the place were clearly intoxicated, the woman was bumping into tables, knocking over drinks and was slurring her words and the man pouring what looked like whisky or rum into his coffee cup under the bar where he assumed no one could see! The food was below average. Awful starter of garlic mushrooms which were sent back. Raw mushrooms in a vinegar milky sauce served with bread. (The bread being the best bit) my partner had the black pudding stack which he said was ok. Main courses were cheese and onion pie which was delicious! Nice chunky chips and crispy chicken burger which wasn’t the best. Cheap frozen chicken in breadcrumbs on a dry bap. We were looking forward to dining here but were very disappointed. This pub is situated in a lovely picturesque village and could be amazing. Tonight it wasn’t………
