The Cartford Inn impresses with its delicious breakfast, friendly staff, and well-furnished, clean rooms by the River Wyre. However, some guests find it overpriced, questioning its sustainability.

Recently had an evening meal in the restaurant, it was spectacular. The location is beautiful and the ambience is special. We also visited their Toti Deli shop earlier in the day, its delightful and we left with some special treats. A place for fine food and country class.

Should have known when we saw the tumbleweed blowing across the car park on Thursday evening at 7pm on the Thursday before Christmas. You prices are very overpriced I doubt you will survive, This is not Paris in the shadow of the Eifel Tower, It is a pub next to the sewage infected river Wyre. Good luck in January!!!

As a couple, we were thrilled to revisit the Cartford Inn after previously enjoying its excellent food and superb service. This time, we decided to make it extra special by inviting the whole family to celebrate a big birthday. Pre-booking was simple and efficient, which set the tone for what we hoped would be a fantastic evening. Unfortunately, things took a disappointing turn early on. Our starters took an hour to arrive, and once we finished them, it was another hour before our main courses were served. Throughout the evening, we felt neglected, with no one checking in to see if we were enjoying our meals. What started with high expectations ended up being far from the memorable experience we had hoped for.

Where do I even start!! My now husband and I, along with some family members, stayed at the Cartford Inn the night before our wedding and from start to finish our experience was impeccable. I initially booked online, requesting several rooms including one for a family member with 2 small children. Staff from the Cartford in swiftly rang me to tell me that they were an adult only hotel. This is completely understandable as you can see the level of care gone into curating beautiful spaces decorated with amazing art! The woman on the phone (Emily I believe) went above and beyond and graciously helped me to find alternative accommodation for them. During our stay were able to enjoy an incredible meal in their private dining room. Despite there being 13 adults and 2 children, the food was brought out swiftly, was piping hot and clearly superb quality. The staff members serving us were extremely attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Every member in my part agreed that the rooms were amazing; beautiful decorated, extremely clean and perfectly spacious! Nothing at the Cartford Inn felt like too much trouble. I had spoken to a staff member before our arrival about having to leave early the morning of my wedding to ensure we made it on time to the venue; the staff member had said that she would organise a slightly earlier breakfast for me and my bridal party so we could eat before we left, which was incredibly thoughtful and made my day even more special. The service we received whilst staying, in my opinion, is on parr with that of a 5 star hotel. If I could give the Cartford Inn more than 5 stars I would, gorgeous location, amazing staff and superb food! 10/10!!!

I absolutely loved this place. I stayed here on my way to a golf trip the next day. I arrived to the free car park to discover that they have electric car charging, which was a very nice surprise for a small hotel. Car parked, I walked into the reception desk to a very warm welcome, and was taken to, rather than pointed to my room. The room was nice, clean and tidy with a lovely view over the river and the little toll bridge. The bird boxes on the trees outside were teaming with birds and overall it felt very relaxing and idyllic. I booked dinner in the restaurant and had: - French onion soup - Lamb Shoulder - Banana Parfait ‘choc ice’ - 2 glasses of wine …all of which was absolutely beautiful! I had a little walk around the hotel after dinner to have a look at some of the art before settling in to the bar with my book to finish my glass of wine. Breakfast the next morning was in front of the big window directly downstairs from my room with the same view. Lovely food again and a very relaxed atmosphere. The other guests were very friendly which could be due to the feeling of the place, or maybe just the type of customer somewhere like this attracts, or maybe I just got lucky. I’m already making reasons to be in the area again so I can take my wife for a night here.

We wanted to visit friends who live in nearby Poulton and The Cartford Inn looked lit the type of hotel we like. And it didn’t disappoint. The staff are superb, friendly and efficient. We booked around 5 months in advance and would have like the Penthouse but it was taken. An indication of how popular this place is. Breakfast was very good as was the evening meal we had with our friends on the Saturday evening. Now we have discovered The Cartford Inn we will be back in the future. Maybe next time we’ll be lucky to get the Penthouse.

Absolutely loved our stay- so much nicer and more fun than a normal country inn. Quirky decor- lots to delight the eye both inside and out. We stayed in Robin’s Nest cabin and it was truly delightful- huge bath tub, gorgeous fixtures and fittings, and a sublime view over the river. Could it be improved? A wood fired hot tub would’ve been a nice addition and they definitely have the space. Loved the full size Ren toiletries and the card welcoming us. Service could’ve been a bit more friendly and personal- but it was brisk and efficient. We absolutely loved it- it felt like a special stay which it was as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and we don’t get a break very often. We will be back! Thank you so much.
