Thought we would try the Moorcock for tea with the family for the first time since the new owners took over. Having read the menu with all the fancy names and descriptions for the meals, the food was very disappointing amd bland, stated beef dripping chips, amd these were not fried in beef dripping. And to top it all off had to listen to 8 or so lads swearing and getting drunk in front of two young children, and then watch them get in cars and speed off. . Won't be going back

went for a meal start of the year here and was fantastic so decided to take my family (5) first waited about 20mins before we got asked if we would like a drink. we then ordered starters 4 turned up after a average wait but 1 didnt trying to get the attention to let them know finally got attention then took 10 mins to receive. 4 good my soup was i think potato and the chef had placed a green juice skirted over the top the soup was of very poor quality and the green taste was vile left all after 2 spoon fulls even my son thought it was awful did'nt complain but when they decided to empty table this full bowl of soup waitress did'nt even ask was it okay. Then Mains ordered steak well done with peppercorn sauce as i don't like my meat with blood it came and all the others but no peppercorn sauce told the waiter then waited 10 mins to turn up when i cut into my steak it was bloody so another poor request and at the end got a bill for over £150 we had to leave more food that we ate as the quality of others was not great standard.

New owners and a new vibe. We enjoyed having a few drinks in the bar area and then dining in the restaurant, the food was fabulous. The service from Luke and Lilly and the chat with the Chef Reece enanced our visit, we had a great time. Summer time on the outside decking sounds great.. BBQ, Bar and live music with stunning views. It's well worth a visit.

Really, really good. Thank you for the friendly service, good food and overall wonderful experience. It was such a pleasant change from the usual surly staff, poor food and overcharging in lots of places. Again, thank you very much, we will be back.

A fantastic stay here once again. Needed somewhere for a couple of nights to attend an event in Rochdale and The Moorcock fitted the bill perfectly. Very quick check in, even though the bar was quite busy, and a great, comfortable room. Good choices on the menu and a decent selection of beers on tap. Excellent staff throughout with a special mention for Harry, Leah and Erin, thank you for your help with the bottle collection.

We find the Moorcock a bit hit and miss. Had a really good sea bass meal there one Friday, but a poor pork and apple sauce baguette a few weeks later on a Tuesday - baguette way too dry and hard for me. Gravy way too watery for me. So my thoughts would be to avoid quiet days at the beginning of the week as maybe the better chefs are on rest days.

I feel rather sheepish for having taken the rather over blown web site details on trust. This really is not the sort of place I would usually choose. The warning sign was the car park on arrival - several trade vans, their owners inside talking (and swearing loudly). The bedroom tiny and with the smallest single beds Ive seen for a while The bathroom had a strong whiff of sewage. Dinner was very basic fare - adequate but no danger of a Michelin star that's for sure. Very limited choice for breakfast, but the full English was - as everything else in this establishment - just about OK. The only saving graces were the pleasant staff, who frankly seemed to be bailing out what looked like a sinking ship.
