We arrived at Truro station and pre booked a taxi with Spikes at a cost of £85 for the 40 Minute ride to the Hotel. Check in was swift and we were welcomed by a friendly receptionist. The newly re furnished room had shower room . Fluffy white towels and tea tray that included local coffee and tea produce. The icing on the cake was the panoramic views from the window overlooking Housel Bay and the lighthouse. Breakfast had a wide choice that Included the full Cornish special. Delicious local sausages and bacon with perfect poached eggs. There was a daily smoothie on offer which was a nice addition. All served by cheery staff. We enjoyed the sunshine in the extensive gardens that had seating overlooking the bay. The hotel started a new spring menu in The Terrace and we tried the mussels for lunch Delicious. ! The Hotel has a tasting menu on a Friday and Saturday in the Fallowfields restaurant. This is thoroughly recommended . Chef Joseph devised a tantalising menu to get the taste buds working. The sommelier Alex was very Knowledgeable and helped made the evening a memorable experience. A car would be a necessity to explore the local area. We will return for the ****** Mystery weekend.

We had booked one of the panoramic rooms as a treat for our anniversary. We were disappointed to find how the scaffolding was restricting the view from our room. There was no other panoramic room available and there should have been a reduction in cost for the compromised view. The food was very good and the chef dealt well with our dietary constraints. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is very good - we had walked past a number of times and thought to stay there. The terrace restaurant feels more like a cafe (aside from the food) and our room needed some attention and smartening up (the bathroom had been recently renovated though)

My partner Elizabeth and I visited Housel Bay Hotel recently. This was our third visit. It was sad to see that Esme and some of the old team have left, but the new team if anything are even better. There were a few challenges during our stay due to the recent storms, but the team always kept us informed. The Hotel is a beautiful building situated at a wonderful but challenging location, so sometimes you can experience four seasons in one day. The food in the Terrace Restaurant is excellent. The three course Sunday Lunch we had during our stay was probably the best Sunday Lunch we have ever had. A big thank you to the Chef's for such great food and to Ellie and Kelsey for their enthusiasm, knowledge and front of the house excellence and to Sarah for all her hard work. The breakfasts during our stay were very good and were delivered with great warmth and exuberance by Lucy. Alice and Molly on reception were fabulous. Thank you Molly for your kindness, warmth and dedication and tenacity regarding our towel rail.!! A big thank you to the House keeping team also.We celebrated our anniversary during our stay and a big thank you to the team for their messages and making it so memorable. It was great to see Mark "the builder" again who is working so hard to reinvigorate this great Hotel and is striving to make it even better. Thank you for the drink and we are really looking forward to returning again in the future.

The position of the hotel is amazing. Sitting at breakfast overlooking the sea is a wonderful start to the day; particularly when the breakfast is so good. We stayed in a smaller back room, but it was plenty big enough and you can always go downstairs to see the sea. The staff are great, always friendly and helpful. The food is of the highest quality, with plenty of choice in the evening. It is an excellent place for lazying, walking, site seeing and generally having a lovely time.

Another excellent stay despite the poor weather. The staff was most welcoming especially Lucy at breakfast times. The fog horn during the stormy nights is really not intrusive, if anything it is reassuring on a rough night to turn over and hear it.

This hotel is not only beautiful on the outside but the staff make it absolutely wonderful on the inside. Molly and Joe were fantastic with their hospitality and kindness from the minute we walked in until the minute we left. Lucy in the mornings was like a breath of fresh air, so lovely and welcoming and couldn’t do more to help. The lady in the evening was friendly too. The food. Phenomenal. I don’t think I’ll need to eat for a while…! Our room was gorgeous and the lovely ladies who cleaned it were so happy to help. Thanks for an amazing stay. Can’t wait to go back!
