Hotel Gran Garbi Mar & AquaSplash

The standard of food was so poor, the worst I have ever experienced. Staff were utterly unengaging, the rooms are basic, dusty and require attention. How this hotel ever got a rating above 2 star amazes me. Complete rip off, avoid at all costs.

Hotel and grounds spotlessly clean but the set up is a joke. You have to leave the hotel and go to another one for main meals and full range of all inclusive drinks. There are notices telling you not to reserve sun beds as towels will be removed but this did not happen once in the week we were there. The annoying thing was we were early to the water park every morning and nearly all the sun beds had towels on but you didn't see anyone on them until nearly lunch time. The bathroom was another joke no plug in the bath or sink and the shower head fixed to the wall about a foot above the bath so if you wanted a shower you had to hold it. The bath was small and hard work. We had to leave the hotel at 7 am to catch our transfer back to the airport and couldn't even get a coffee before we left. We have been to Lloret de Mar a few times now as we love the area and I can honestly say I won't be stopping here again.

We stayed at the Gran Garbi Mar from 29th May for a week. 5 Adults and 4 kids. All inclusive. The rooms were basic but clean. Continental breakfast is available in this hotel or you can walk across the road to the sister hotel for a hot breakfast buffet. Lunch and dinner are also served at the sister hotel. The food was really nice, loads of choice even for the fussy eaters and even gluten free was advertised on the relevant dishes. The aquapark opened on the 1st June and was really good for all ages. The lifeguards were so friendly and even participated in a few races with the kids down the slides. The drinks on all inclusive were basic at this pool compared to the pool at the sister hotel. We always managed to get a sunbed but I could imagine in the summer holidays that it would be more difficult. The beach was a 5 minute walk away and there were local shops opposite the Gran Garbi hotel. The entertainment which was ran by Sergio was really good fun, he got everyone involved in the games round the pool and even the aqua aerobics. He made sure to remember everyone’s names and you could tell he really enjoyed getting to know the guests and making them feel welcome.

I didn’t read reviews until after I booked the holiday and started to worry I had made the wrong decision. However I needed have worried at all. I read that people had been stolen from by housekeeping staff, the food was terrible the night manager was rude and shouted at you and that rooms were dirty. None of this applied to us. We had a great time. All the staff were friendly, there was lots of choices of foods to eat, we liked the snacks and we sampled lots of the drinks and cocktails/mocktails were lush. Lucas on reception was an absolute gem so friendly and helpful. To be fair all the reception staff were great, I just don’t know their names. Our room provided everything we needed the water park was so much fun and with no one reserving sun bed it wasn’t a 5am mad dash to put towels out. Yes it is situated on a hill which lots of reviews moaned about, but nothing can be done to change the landscape. If you cut through the sister hotel to get to the beach it’s a much easier walk so we really didn’t see the problem others stayed they had. This is definitely a place I would return to with my children. Garbi Mar you were an absolute pleasure

This hotel was cheap and cheerful but we had a fabulous family holiday. The hotel is basic but you get what you pay for! Staff are all lovely amd very accommodating. Rooms basic but comfortable and clean (sometimes we had a slight damp smell but it went when the patio doors were open and air came in). We had to go a short distance to the sister hotel for dinner and entertainment (5 meters) but it was not a problem. Great selection of delicious food and entertainment which we all loved. The highlight is the aqua park at this hotel. It's well organised and fantastic fun for all ages. We had age 3 - 80 years old with us. Town and nice beach nearby but beware the hotel is on a hill. Its easier to walk through sister hotel. There are various ways to avoid the steep hill. I would recommend this hotel as there is a very good chance we will be back!

Lovely hotel. I wish I could have brought some of my nieces and nephews to the hotel. The highlight of the hotel is the aquapark at the back. The rooms were spotless. The breakfast offering could be a little better. There is a lovely bar la Tasca down the street which does great coffees and pan con tomate for breakfast.
