Fairmont Doha

As someone who travels a lot & stays in a lot of 5* hotels.. this is by far the biggest let down of any 5* hotel I've stayed in. I was just in Atlantis the Royal in Dubai October 2nd 2024 (3 weeks prior). So when I say the biggest let down Fairmont.. the biggest let down. We flew business from London & arrived in Doha for our anniversary & my husbands' birthday trip. Let me get the positives out of the way: it's a very modern hotel, very aesthetically pleasing, very very modern. Lobby area is very tidy, they wipe down the monitors used for the lifts very frequently which I appreciated. The rooms are beautiful. Ok now our experience. Day 1: We booked the Gold package which meant initially we were on the second floor as all Gold members are reportedly on the second floor.. which I'll upload what it is meant to come with. We arrived to a very modern but subpar room. Again, a 5* hotel requires me to be this critical.. the mirror in the room was broken and the room was just dirty.. stained carpets, stained walls, the glass for the seaview I had booked specifically was filthy! When I saw the bathroom walls were also dirty I said absolutely not and sent a message to the ”personal butler” (I'll come back to this) at 3am. The next morning I woke up and they had replied apologising and informed us they'll move us to another room. I advised we'd be ready to move at 4pm. At 4pm I sent a message to advise we were ready & I received a message at 4:17 to say they'll help us move room. At 4:37 I sent a message asking for an update - my message was read and ignored. At this point my husband and I had been waiting for 45 minutes.. he was getting frustrated waiting around and left the room to find something to eat. I called reception who advised they'll get back to me & at 5pm, a Gold supervisor appeared at my door. I will not name and shame however he did not apologise for lateness but was ready to help me move. So we moved rooms.. to what they labelled an upgrade. I guess they assumed a room with a balcony was an upgrade but I went from a seaview room to a SMALLER room with city view with a balcony. At this point I was too tired to argue or complain.. I sat and waited for my husband. 5 minutes later a gentleman knocked on the door and said he had been advised to remove the drinks in the fridge from the room. I was beyond shocked.. you'd think the drinks he was removing were champagne.. Instead Coke, Sprite and sparkling water. I laughed out loud. This could not be. This was terrible. At least do this before moving us. 20 minutes later my husband appeared with Bilal. You'll see Bilal's name mentioned in a few reviews and I see why. He is the only staff member I believe I interacted with that went that little bit further.. he adds that personal touch several staff are missing.. he immediately saw the room and said this room is smaller and this isn't a sea view. I looked up, shocked I was talking to someone who seemed to have sense and I said I know. He mad
