I've stayed in a fair few premier inns and I always chose them as, hey, you always know what you're going to get. Most ones are a carbon copy of the basic necessities with cleanliness and comfort. Unfortunately this ones wasn't. To start off with I cannot fault the person on reception they were exceptional when it eventually came to my turn. I arrived and was very surprised that there was no automated check in, this is then first one I've experienced without, but nevermind. There were two people on reception, one serving, one not. I don't know what the second person was doing but it was clearly more important than serving customers. Unfortunately I arrived as 3 family's defended without bookings so I stood there for around 20 minutes with all my bags waiting for them to choose what rooms they wanted all whilst the second receptionist typed away not serving. After I was eventually served the person on reception was very friendly and rather relieved that I had a booking after her previous encounter. She was friendly enough and handed me my key. The reception are was very beigh, small and basic. I made my way to our room, a family room on the 1st floor. The hallways looked very dated and appeared to not have been updated in a while. I felt like I was walking down the corridor or a 90s american film to a hotel/apartment block. I was half expecting to see someone standing in a doorway with a stained sleeveless top smoking a cigarette whilst, in the background and old tv was playing some rerun. I arrived at my room, it was nice enough. It had been cleaned well and you could tell from the strong bleach smell. It looked like they had tried to bring it up to code with the rest of the previous Premiers with a new bed and some paint. But unfortunately it's age shone through and it lacked the purple quirky rooms I'm so used to. The bathroom was very much, lino floor and a metal prison shower poking out the wall and the wardrobe had bits of trim hanging off. We booked two nights but only stayed one innthe end. I just didn't feel safe or happy in our room, I didn't make any complaints as, essentially, there wasn't anything dramatically wrong it just wasn't up to the premier inn standard I had come accustomed to. So we packed up and went to another hotel. Unfortunately I would not return. I think the hotel needs a big overhaul and refurb. The food was good but very pricey, this was a branded restaurant and not premier inn.
