Schoolhouse Restaurant and Hotel

Stayed here because we were attending a wedding at the nearby Pear Tree. We were greeted by a lovely lady who booked us in earlier than expected . The room was very comfortable and the shower was great. TV, tea and coffee and an iron with board if required. Breakfast was served in our room at a time specified by ourselves which was delicious. Parking was easy and would highly recommend this establishment for any nearby events. Tip:Book any taxis required in advance .

Unfortunately we didn’t actually get to experience our stay that was booked, as we had to cancel due to myself needing emergency surgery. They were penalising me for having to cancel anyway by charging the cancellation fee and refusing to even discuss it with me. However my issue wasn’t the cancellation fee, it’s the attitude and disrespect I’ve received from the staff. When I emailed they were ignored and when I called I was greeted by an extremely rude gentleman (if you could call him that, with how he behaved!!!!) he refused to let me speak to a manager- I literally had a question to ask, and I was being incredibly polite despite how they had ignored several of my emails - he was telling me that his time was too precious to even speak with me and I was a waste of time. He also was extremely rude to my husband when he asked his name and then the lovely gentleman hung up on him. I am completely disgusted that this place is even allowed to run with such awful attitudes towards customers! Keep the £100 and maybe take a course on customer service!

such a nice find, living in France we wanted a real 'english' experience. We were not disappointed. This old school has been nicely maintained keeping the 'old style' in the bedrooms and bathrooms, quirky but thoroughly appreciated, lovely old fittings and decor. The food is so nice too, sensible portions of freshly homemade dishes, a good variety too. (The home made fish fingers are a must!!) We will recommend this delightful place to our family and friends. looking forward to coming back.

The manager threatened to THROW me out for eating a take out, at 10.30pm when the restaurant is closed! Poor aggressive little man that couldn’t follow through with throwing me out like he said he would. Rude! Just rude and no personal skills

My partner and I went on our date night early evening,we were greeted by Karen the owner who was very friendly and welcoming,she was a great host. All the food was prepared fresh and did not disappoint,my partner had the Halloumi and orange salad and I had the Oyster Kedgeree,absolutely amazing,followed by Fillet Steak for my partner and Monkfish for myself. Will definitely recommend and will be going there again,worth every penny.

What a wonderful place to stay! The building is beautiful and the decor in our room was really sympathetic and fitting. Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. There was a wide choice for breakfast and it was delicious! All of the staff were really friendly. We were made to feel extremely welcome and very comfortable. We'll be back if we stay in the area again.
