The Marquette Hotel

Visiting Wisco for parents weekend This place was a perfect combo of simplicity and convenience. Located just 2 miles from campus ubers back and forth to state street were $8. Nestled in delightful neighborhood with single family homes it had a safe family vibe. There is no front desk but rather a simple door code for the building and your room are provided by text. The rooms felt modern, clean and well appointed. The tv was way to small for the size of the room. The marquette cafe situated on the ground floor of the building had delicious breakfast options and descent coffee. Price was good for a very busy and expensive weekend in Madison if you wanted to stay closer to campus.

"For the independent traveler" is code for absolutely no customer service. I emailed twice about my reservation before I arrived and never got an email back. This should have let me know what kind of place this was. Sure, the hotel room is clean and it has some great IKEA furniture, but the walls are thin and the drunk college students will keep you up all night walking up and down the stairs. There are apparently quiet hours, but who is going to enforce them, especially when they can't be bothered to respond to emails? I would have knocked to ask my neighbors' to be quiet, but as a woman traveling alone, it doesn't feel safe. This whole place seems like a tech bro had an idea about how to make AirBnB worse. It's obvious they don't have employees so they can make money, and your sleep suffers. Basically, I'd recommend this place to someone I didn't care for. They'll think it is nice and then they'll be unable to sleep for their whole stay. There's a reason you can't cancel after 48 hours after booking ---(which seems like an absolutely absurd policy in the post-COVID world)---it is so when you email with questions closer to your reservation arrival and no one responds, you'll be stuck with the bill and forced to stay unless you want to be out of money (at least that's how I felt).

The Marquette was perfect for our needs. We were three family members. The room was simply but expected for the price. The room was also clean and the bathroom bordered on excellent. We loved having the cafe downstairs in the morning. Parking requires a little flexibility but we were never more than a block away. Loved the cafe!

When all you need is a room, this is perfect. Less than a mile walk to the Sylvee, plenty of little shops all around it. No kids running to a pool. Only minus right now is that the construction across the street will be an early wake up call ʘ⁠‿⁠ʘ I went down for coffee early in the morning on a Tuesday, about 7:30. There were some pastries set up and coffee but nobody in there Easiest check in I've ever had, they give you the code right on your phone couple days before your trip you're all set no issues whatsoever room was absolutely perfect

This was my worst traveling experience! We booked the hotel for two nights and arrived in the late afternoon, only to discover that the sheets on the bed had not been changed after the previous guest! There was DIRT on the sheets, BLACK HAIR, and CREASES in the bed, making it evident that someone had slept there before. There wasn't a single person on site; we tried calling, texting, and emailing without any response. We decided not to stay there for the night. The next day, the hotel apologized, explaining that they had a new staff member who forgot to use a lint roller on the sheet. They offered to change the sheets for the following day. We requested a refund, but despite not using their establishment, we never received any refund.
