Club Hotel Olivi - Tennis Center

Good location, 5 minutes walk to the lake Garda, 10 minutes drive to the village Malcesine. Breakfast was ok, good tennis facilities with coach.

So pleased we booked this hotel. You don’t have to be a tennis player to enjoy it! Hotel Club Olivi is set just outside of Malcesine so is not so frantically busy as the other central hotels and has gardens to walk around and enjoy. Having seen a lot of the other towns around Malcesine on the north east of the lake this town was the nicest with narrow cobbled streets, lots of interesting shops, a small port and plenty of restaurants . The castle is an added bonus and the scenery quite spectacular. A lot of the other hotels in other towns along this area of the lake are set right on the main road that runs alongside the lake so if you want to sunbath or swim you have to do it alongside a busy road. We saw so many hotels we nearly booked and were very glad we were staying where we were. The area where the hotel is the main road is higher than the lakeside promenade (which runs along most of the lake on this side suitable for walking and cycling.) As the promenade is below the road at this point it’s more private and quiet with two wonderful restaurants overlooking the lake edge minutes from the hotel. To walk into Malcesine from the hotel will take you 30 minutes along this promenade but the views are so beautiful it’s a pleasure to walk. Alternatively you can do it safely and a lot quicker on the bikes available to hire from the hotel at just 7 Euro a day. The hotel is family run and everyone was exceptionally lovely and helpful. Breakfast was great with a great choice. The evening meal was very good but not an enormous menu especially if you are vegan or vegetarian but with so many other choices to dine nearby it’s not a problem. The ice cream cart where you helped yourself to scoops of ice cream of your own choice of flavour was particularly popular! The rooms were generous in size, clean and bright. We had a family room sharing with a teenage daughter and her third ‘put you up’ bed was extremely comfortable with a piece of large furniture semi dividing the room between the beds giving us all a little more privacy than is usual in family rooms. The beds were really comfortable and we all slept very well. The pool was large with bar and other facilities such as sauna if you wanted them. I do wish they would use less plastic around the hotel including cups and change their mini toiletries in the room to something more sustainable but these would be my only observation where they could improve. We absolutely loved this hotel and would definitely like to come back. Some notes about Garda - if you stay on the west side prepare to loose the sun very early in the afternoon because it drops behind the mountains . I learnt this to my cost when we stayed several years ago in Riva. This does not happen in Malcesine and it stays light into the evening. Limone is lovely but it does have a very tall steep mountain side right behind the village and with the windy narrow steep streets it does give one a claustrophobic sense with a touch of

Great location away from the busy center of Malcesine. Yet only a 15 min walk to the center along the lake or a 2 min drive. The price quality ratio especially with the half board option is great. Outstanding tennis courts and private training option via the Tennis School that is part of the hotel if desired. Front desk personal and all of the staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms are updated but basic but totally fine if not looking for 5 star. Large nature grounds with great views of lake and mountains. Breakfast buffet exceeded expectations for that level of hotel.

This hotel is geared entirely to tennis, with multiple tennis courts with different surfaces around the hotel. Itdoes also have a very nice pool and bar area though. The rooms are quite basic and probably need a bit of love, however for the price it is perfect if you are just passing through and need somewhere to stay. The location is good (everything in Malcesine is close) and the staff are increddibly helfpul and friendly, which in itself makes it worth your money. The breakfast buffet is also simple yet contains everything you would expect at a buffet breakfast, therefore no complaints there either. Essentially, for the price per room, its hard to find such value around the lake in general, as the hotel is not old or gross in any way.
