Hotel Castello Lake Front

What makes this hotel so successful and so popular? Is it the glorious peaceful position right on the lakeside with views from heaven, whilst still being a few steps away from the centre of the delightful Malcesine? Is it the superb breakfast, the variety and quality of which are the best we have ever experienced anywhere? Is it the restaurant with the delicious food and charming, attentive staff? Is it the fact that there are plenty of sunloungers on the lawn overlooking the lake? Is it the comfort and quality of the rooms, beds and bedlinen and the bathrooms? Is it the helpfulness and friendliness of the reception staff? Is it the impeccable cleanliness of all public rooms and bedrooms? Well yes, all of these things. But the real secret is that this is a family-run hotel and it is run with tremendous passion and fanatical attention to detail. There are constant repairs and improvements and nothing is ever overlooked. Indeed the third generation of the family, the charming Pietro, has now joined the team. All the staff are respected and seem very happy, which is evidenced by the length of stay in their employment. No jobs are too menial for the managers (family members), who turn their hand to whatever needs doing, whilst being charming and attentive to all their guests. The only downside? It is now so popular that it gets booked up very quickly. In fact I think I should be keeping my mouth shut as it may add still further to the difficulty in booking a room! The best thing about Hotel Castello is the location - close to the centre of Malcesine, but at the same time quiet as it is separated from the busy street area by the castle. It has direct access to the beach, and there is a lovely lakeside walk heading north away from the town, which we enjoyed after supper every night we were there. But additionally it has all you want from a hotel - efficient and friendly staff, an excellent restaurant, yummy and varied self-service breakfast, super comfy beds, great lakeside sitting-out area.... we couldn't fault it.

Three generations. Yes, grandfather purchased the property and the sons and their sons own and manage it now. This is what makes it so special. Yes, the location is spectacular, on the shore of Lake Garda right on the sidewalk that takes you down the shoreline or into the historic town and the Castello Scaligero. The rooms and suites are large, have lake views and are well equipped. The breakfast is the best we've had in all of Italy...even in 5-star hotels in major cities. Freshness, variety, custom preparations and the staff are remarkable. The onsite parking a few yards from the front door is a welcome amenity. But it's the warm and genuine welcome each time the Reception team greets you that makes this place special. This is a property that will remain among my top-five favorites and one to which I hope to return.

Returned to this hotel after an excellent experience a decade ago. This time round was even better! I booked the Grand View Living Suite and the view from its huge private terrace is simply breathtaking. The suite itself was large, spotlessly clean with a great walk-in power shower. Breakfast was also first rate, with a large range of options including freshly made omelettes and proper coffee. But perhaps best of all are the staff: welcoming, attentive and highly professional. If you’re planning on a trip to a Lake Garda look no further and book with confidence.

Had a fantastic 3 nights at this hotel. Staff were extremely friendly, beds were comfortable and everywhere was very clean. Great location right on the lake with amazing views from the restaurant. We had dinner there our first night and the waiters were great and the food was very special. The selection at breakfast was fantastic, with pancakes/waffles etc cooked fresh and a small selection of cooked items. The rooms were modern but the shower could do with some updating- still powerful and clean enough though. We used the jacuzzi which is free and a nice to warm up in after swimming in the lake. Up a short but steep hill to get to the town (which is gorgeous) so maybe not ideal for anyone with mobility issues. Would absolutely love to stay again.

Hotel Castello is a little piece of heaven on earth. It is absolutely perfect. There is nothing that could be improved. The hotel is perfectly located on the lake front, under the castle and 2 minute walk into the town. The views are stunning. The food is wonderful . The breakfast is amazing . There is an extensive and delicious selection of hot and cold food ,sweet and savoury, with freshly cooked options. The view from the breakfast room is beautiful. The restaurant is fantastic, overlooking the lake. There is a wide choice of food and wine at excellent prices on the menu. Every dish is delicious , using local ingredients and perfectly presented. The rooms are perfect, spotless, very comfortable and all with beautiful lake views and some with a view of the castle also. I have never seen such a high standard of cleanliness in any hotel. However it is the people on the team there that make this hotel exceptional. Everyone from frondesk, breakfast, housekeeping, restaurant and bar staff is always warm, welcoming and work hard to make your stay perfect. A big shout out to Paul , Jamal and Rafaello for looking after us so well in the bar and restaurant. Family Treccani should be very proud of the hotel they have created. We are already looking forward to returning.
