When I arrived late at night I must of looked slightly disappointed… The hotel seemed very old fashioned and needed a lick of paint and a couple of upgrades. After waking up to the sound of the sea, and the beautiful smiles of the fantastic family and staff who run this friendly hotel. You are treated as one of the family… It’s a privilege to have stayed here. I have absolutely loved every day of my 18 night stay … Maria in the bar and her colleague are so funny 🤣 and have always gone out of their way to talk to me. Also Aresthea has been incredible helping me with issues nothing to do with my hotel stay … nothing is impossible for her help and assistance I am truly grateful.( probably spelled your name wrong… I apologise x ) This hotel is spotlessly clean and the pool is huge and it’s fantastic to have the gorgeous beach a few steps up from the garden! I will definitely be returning, as soon as possible! There weren’t a lot of other English tourists, however that was absolutely no problem for me!!! Thank you beautiful Neon Hotel you were amazing x x.

I don't understand why this hotel has so many dodgy reviews. It is a lovely hotel and the staff are so lovely and helpful. Maid service daily and it is located right in the middle of everything and on the beach. Lovely pool and not very busy so you can always get a sunbed and enjoy a dip. Yes it is a little dated but it's still lovely. Would definitely recommend and we intend coming back for sure!

My grandson and I recently enjoyed our stay at the charming family-run Neon Hotel in Stalis, Crete, again it exceeded all our expectations. This is our 2nd year returning to the Neon Hotel. There are many reasons we chose to return to this particular hotel: Hospitality: From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Pablo. This is a beautiful welcoming, friendly family run hotel from arrival to departure we were greeted by their warmth hospitality. Location: The hotel's location is perfect, is literally 2mins to the beautiful sandy beach and local shops and restaurants are on the doorstep. If you want to enjoy the infamous nightlife of Malia it’s 10mins walk. The hotel is exceptionally clean, the rooms are very clean, comfortable, thank you to all the cleaning ladies who provided well-maintained room/hotel, providing a cozy retreat after a day of exploring. The bar at the Neon Hotel was/is a delightful experience, with a variety of delicious options to start the day/night right. We also appreciated the friendly banter/ conversation from Pablo and all his sisters and not forgetting father Nik thank you all so much. Overall, our stay at Neon Hotel was excellent, and gave us many unforgettable memories, special thanks to the warm and welcoming atmosphere created by Pablo and his family. We can't wait to return for yet another memorable vacation. See you next year. The pictures/video attached are from the hotel. Highly recommended!

Neon Hotel, Stalis 23/9/23 to 7/10/23 We chose this hotel when booking due to its proximity to a sandy beach, plus restaurants and shops nearby. We were not disappointed. It is a family run hotel and they are lovely. The two people we interacted with the most were Aristea (who runs reception) and Maria (who runs the bar). Dad, mum and brother were also present but we didn’t interact with them much. Aristea and Maria are lovely and would do anything to help you.  We asked for sea view rooms once we arrived, and they were able to accommodate us, which was lovely. As it was very hot at the start of the holiday, we were able to sleep with the balcony doors open at night, listening to the waves, which was incredibly relaxing. We did request aircon later on, also supplied no problem.  Although the hotel is right on the road, being at the back we didn’t hear any road noise. Also, we did not hear any noise from the surrounding bars and restaurants which was very peaceful. We spent a lot of time around the pool, which was lovely and also not busy. We did venture on to the sandy beach which was quite narrow but clean. The sea was really calm to start with and so warm and clear. The beach directly in front of the hotel didn’t have sunbeds which was nice. Either side did. To the left they charged 6 euros for 2 (I believe, we didn’t use them) but to the right were more expensive in front of Alexandra hotel. Maria kept us entertained at the bar, which we frequented often. Well it’s 5 o’clock somewhere! She was so lovely. We did sometimes have lunch there which was very reasonable and filling. We usually shared a club sandwich and Greek salad (approx. 12 euros) and cocktails (5-7 euros) or Mythos bear (3euros). Our daughter joined us for the 2nd week and the family were so lovely to her as well. Our rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels and bedding every other day. You really couldn’t ask for more. Breakfast was continental style and more than adequate, with cereals, toast, eggs, old meat, croissants, fresh fruit, tea, coffee and juice all in plentiful supply. All in all we had a lovely holiday and the family were wonderful.  Thoroughly recommend.

Very basic hotel but clean rooms. Everywhere outside overgrown and un loved. Grass growing over sun beds. No outside maintenance at all. Pool extremely cold and not used much. Anything ordered to eat comes from hotel next door so no snack bar. Breakfast basic continental but enough displayed. Staff very friendly and approachable but nobody seems to do anything they all sit around like holiday makers while the hotel has lots that could be done to it.Location excellent for restaurants and shops. Only 30 minute pleasant stroll to Malia.

Excellent Friendly service. Hotel is 10mins to Malia and 10mins to Stalis. My grandson hired a scooter and I rented a scooter/mini quad from a friendly business nearby to the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Family run hotel. Rooms were clean, excellent location close to restaurants and bars. Hotel is on the beach. Will definitely return. Thank you for making our stay a happy one.

I found the people at Neon so helpful, kind and generous. It is a family-run hotel, and when I came downstairs each morning, they greeted me like a friend. When I had to do some really onerous paperwork that required printing lots of pages, signing and then scanning them back, it took ages, and the woman who helped me (and did everything but the signing!) was endlessly patient. When I needed clear directions to the bus, when I decided to stay another week on the day I should have been leaving, the folks at Neon smoothed the way, solved the problems and always with good cheer. One big reason I stayed the extra week was the feeling of being in a place where people cared. I am only sorry that I didn't get everyone's name so I could list all the people who were so good to me! I want to thank Maria for her dry wit and great drinks, and brother Paulo (Panos?) for the milk with caramel sauce and whipped cream and Inga for her great advice and helpfulness in finding me another week's stay, and Aristea as well, and for being lovely and kind, and Mama for her luscious cookies and Papa for his kind smile and kali meras each day, and Anna, who took care of my room. The hotel is fronted by a lovely sandy beach. There were many days of good swimming in lovely clear water and many days of windy conditions so that the pool was a better idea. The pool was always pristine, and there are free sun loungers around it, with umbrellas, so, if you burn like I do, you can opt for shade. There were two kittens, being fostered by a lady who fed them 4 times a day. Watching them play was endless good fun and added alot to my enjoyment of hanging out around the pool and bar. My room was clean and spacious, and I had a view of a pool, a garden, the ocean and the mountains! (And bear in mind--I came as a solo traveller---many hotels would have stuck me in a broom cupboard and told me to shut the hell up.) Furthermore, I'd asked in advance about making sure my room had good wifi because I needed to have some online meetings for work, and Aristea arranged it for me--and it worked beautifully. Wow. I felt very safe and comfortable. Neon has the feeling of an old-style family-run resort that reminds me of my childhood holidays in Greece. The hotel has a restaurant, (you order at the bar), and my favourite was the chicken gyro pita, which for 5 Euros was a great deal. I saw some monumental salads, too. The bar was generally quiet, (80's music, not too loud) which suited me because I prefer to have conversations, and there were plenty of days where it was more enjoyable just to stay "home" at Neon rather than going into Stalis. I felt part of a family, and that's rare. I didn't want to leave! I'll be back next year.

Basic isn’t even close to describing this place, dated circa 1975? We’ve stayed plenty times 2 stars in Crete (basic but usable) but never had to leave the property and source somewhere else- we paid again for 2 star property, half the price and twice as good. Reception didn’t care, holiday company didn’t care. Poor service on all fronts! Pictures tell a 1000 words. I can’t believe the people who actually give 5 star reviews are actually real, definitely not what we got!
