What a disappointment. I honestly cannot recommend this hotel. I was looking for a quiet hotel for a track-day at Spa Francorchamps and Val d'Arimont seemed to fit the bill. My first problem was someone had forgotten to turn my heating on in my room. It was stone cold as the heater had been turned to the star position and a dark omen of things to come. My second issue was that the breakfast that I had paid for is not available sooner than 8:30 am even though the only hot food provided is scrambled eggs and bacon. At €15 a person and considering you only get one croissant per person I don’t think that’s very good value. Especially when you have to leave at 8:00am and can’t attend breakfast at all! The next problem was whenever the neighbouring room ran his sink it gurgled when they stopped running the water. Unfortunately, my sink in the adjacent room would also gurgle in unison. Not ideal when your neighbour likes to go to the loo at night, washes his hands, and consequently wakes you up after midnight. My biggest problem with Val d'Arimont was that they would not serve me any food in the restaurant on the second night. When I asked to be seated in the restaurant, they informed me that they were fully booked (even though only half the tables were occupied) and that (because I did not have a reservation), myself and my daughter could not have any food. We left and went to our room to order some food. After about an hour of trying no one would deliver to the hotel (as it’s in the middle of nowhere) and frankly there was not really any other options. At this time my daughter was getting stressed and upset as she became more hungry so we decided to return to the restaurant to plead with them. Hoping there had been some cancellations by this point we asked if we could now eat something. At that time they actually admitted they were not fully booked but indeed the truth was a member of the kitchen team was absent and the chef was overwhelmed and stressed. I had suspected they were lying the whole time, but for they own reasons they had confessed and revealed the truth. As a result, I asked if they could plead with the chef so he might reconsider. They explained he was the main boss working but there was nothing they could do. The waitress team obviously felt terrible and they said if it was up to them they would give us food, but there was nothing they could do. Finally they said they would ask him again, and understandably the waitresses were really embarrassed (obviously feeling terrible) so they approached him to reconsider. They spoke to the chef and he came out to see us…. Whereupon he looked me and my daughter up and down (and in the same way you would speak to a dog) exclaimed “NO” in a gruff and rude tone! He then talked briefly in Flemish to the waitresses and stormed back to the kitchens. Myself and my daughter were absolutely horrified to be treated that way and the waitress team were nothing sort of embarrassed. All I could do is try and

We spent two nights at Val d'Arimont and were pleased with the place. Our room was in the main hotel and was comfortable and neat, and the wifi decent. Breakfasts were good also, though the doors being open let in a lot of flies, which was not so enjoyable. Just two things to be aware of: the hotel does not have air conditioning, and access to upper floor rooms is via spiral staircase. A really beautiful location, lots of recreational options, and in spring or fall probably very beautiful.

We came here for a relaxing holiday, but instead we were treated to children shouting in front of the bungalows way past 10pm. Our own children couldn't sleep because of this and came back home exhausted from their holiday in need of rest. Cars were racing at high speed on the road on the premises and were honking their goodbyes to their friend staying in the cottages at all hours of the night If you are looking for a relaxing stay in one of the most beautiful parts of the Belgian Ardennes, look for it elsewhere!

Be aware of management of this hotel/camping. They will do whatever is necessary to charge you extra for anything. When you depart they will charge your credit card for whatever they consider. Very strict policy. The pool area is in need of serious renovation. The cabins also need renovation and proper cleaning before arrival of guests, specially in Covid times. They place is old and dusty. We found later other much nicer places in the area of Malmedy than this old fashioned camping.
