Manapouri Holiday Park

Manapouri Holiday Park is the perfect location for Fiordland adventures - loved the fact that The Church (Food&Drink) and Pearl Harbor (Doubtful Sound departures) were within walking distance along an awesome single track hike. Accommodation was spacious and clean, with a view of the lake - what a way to start the day!

I had an absolutely wonderful time at the holiday park in Manapouri! This charming and quirky park is situated in a stunning location. When I visited during the winter, it was incredibly peaceful, and there was no one else around, making for a truly tranquil experience. The park is just a 3-minute drive to the ferry point for Doubtful Sound, which I highly recommend doing – it's a must-see! The facilities at the park were excellent, and everything was super neat and clean. Sam, one of the managers, even went out of his way to heat up the sauna just for us. Sam and Ana, the managers, are the sweetest and most welcoming people you could hope to meet. They were incredibly thoughtful about what we needed and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. They spent the evening with us outside by the campfire, where we could see the Milky Way – an unforgettable experience! I highly recommend staying here!!

This camp is in a good location by the lake and handy to Te Anau to base for activities in this area. I thought the facilities were good although the kitchen and dining area are small and crowded around dinner time. The lounge was very small and did not have the room to fit more than 6 people comfortably. While we were there, the kitchen had a number of overseas tourists that took over the space. Something to be conscious of. The price was competitive compared to the Te Anau campground which was more expensive. I still think campgrounds charging more than $30 are overpriced for a tent site particularly when you are only using a small amount of hot water and electricity.

This camp features a variety of overnighting options with powered and unpowered camper van sites, some built-out residences and some very basic cabins. The bathhouses were very well-maintained, as was the central kitchen dining area. Staff were friendly and helpful. The camp is quiet and low-key. If you love the van/camp life, Manapouri Holiday Park is an ideal location for visiting the Doubtful Sound/Milford Sound region of the Fjordlands National Park. You’re overlooking Lake Manapouri with nothing to block your view, and it’s an easy stroll to Fraser Beach. The village of Manapouri - with a few restaurants and coffee shops - is a comfortable number of steps away. The sunrises here are awe-inspiring, with the mountains of the South Alps just beyond the lake beckoning. Serious eats (and drink) are better obtained in the village of Te Anau, about 10 minutes drive north. It gets crowded there, though - a reason to stay this venue instead - so make sure you book your evening meal in advance. Overall high marks for this camp (assuming a camp is really your expectation and you’re spending most of your time on activities in this beautiful region. Just one thing: guys, can we put some hooks in the cabins to hang stuff up?

Quirky campground at very affordable rates for overnight with 6 berth motor home. Loved the views and the display of ageing Morris Minors'. Highly recommend and would go back. The office filled with antique military uniforms which seemed appropriate given it was Anzac Day
