On Vacation Wayira Beach

Very well designed facilities. Privileged location but very poor management which generally means a hotel without soul, without customer service, with facilities without maintenance, unmotivated staff, indifferent without training, very bad food and non-existent customer service.

This is regrettably the 3rd time I've had to stay in an On Vacation property - every single time the net signal over WiFi is almost non-existent and no one on the staff knows how to fix it or cares about complaints. Multiple times this has caused huge frustration when trying to work, and it simply isn't a priority for the chain. This time I've also had severe stomach upsets after a single day of eating the all inclusive food (and sticking to bottled water) - after travelling around Colombia for nearly 2 months without a problem, including other hotels in the same region. On Vacation is the very definition of "stack them high and cheap" - with disinterested staff and a consistently poor experience for guests trying to get work done while travelling. We were also stuck in a room at the further end of the sprawling complex, which makes travelling from the room to the beach a pain. The rooms are cute indigenous style cabinas - but this also serves as an excuse for gaping holes in the doors so that they're filled with mosquitoes every night (obviously, as the cabinas are right next to water ponds). The beach is nicely presented, with soft bulb lights every where, and plenty of space for everyone. The evening entertainment is above average, but be prepared for an overdose of Vallenato music - not my taste but it originates from this region. Cocktails are reasonably priced (~25k COP), beers a little expensive (8k COP). Their recommended Chiba party bus is very over priced at ~110k COP (compared with typical prices of ~30k), has no room to dance, feels more like a no-frills bus to the local town. The brochure claims cards are accepted, but all the bars I went to required payment in cash. I'll be doing my best to avoid On Vacation in future - the cheap offers aren't worth the connectivity and food frustrations.

Tuvimos las peores vacaciones de nuestra vida allí y cuando regresamos estuvimos felices de no tener que volver. aquí algunos puntos sobre lo bueno y lo malo. HABITACIONES: las habitaciones son limpias, comodas y muy bien decoradas. UBICACIÓN: los bungalows están a approx. 400 metros de la playa y de la reception. alrededor no hay nada solo desierto, por lo tanto si se desean hacer compras, se deben hacer el en único mercado del hotel. SUPERMERCADO este mercado tiene precios de usura. una crema bloqueadora cuesta 95.000 COP. (el tarro pequenho) la cerveza de lata cuesta 9.000 COP. las empanadas a 9.000 COP ningún articulo tiene el precio visible, así que da la sensación que cambian los precios dependiendo de la persona... mi amigo es alemán y a él solo le daban precios extremadamente altos!!! ah, un encendedor cuesta 4.000 COP así que si desean ir allí, mejor lleven una maleta con bebidas y comidas o suficiente dinero. SERVICIO: los asesores en la recepción no dan respuestas a las preguntas, solo dan evasivas. para comprar una cerveza de 9.000 COP en efectivo te preguntan el número de habitacíon y el nombre (?) INSTALACIONES en todas las instalaciones solo hay sillas en los bares donde se debe pagar. si no consumes, no te puedes sentar. solo hay tres suministros de agua potable (siempre vacios) solo hay dos dispensadores de jugos pero nunca hay vasos... TODO INCLUIDO es una estafa COMIDA INCLUIDA solo hay dos puestos de Buffet para más de 1.000 personas. esto hace que las personas sean muy agresivas al momento de hacer filas para el desayuno, almuerzo y comida. a las 12 del dia empieza el almuerzo y unicamente ponen 16 tazas para sopa. cuando no hay más tazas, nadie pone más a disposición. ya sea desayuno, almuerzo o comida, es toda una travesia poder conseguir algo de comer. RESTAURANTE A LA CARTA los empleados de ese restaurante tienen un muy mal servicio. te atiende desde la puerta y lo primero que te dicen es que ahí toca pagar. Naturalmente, si es a la carta, yo sé que me toca pagar. hice una reservación para una cena y los meseros ni sabian que venden. ("Jugos en leche ? eehhh sí tenemos limonada ") el jugo de mango en leche (vaso pequenhito, casi miniatura) a 25.000 COP. el resto del jugo se lo toman los empleados (lol) nosotros pedimos un jugo de mango en leche y todos los empleados tomaron con nosotros ... gracias. :D las entradas y el plato fuerte no estuvieron mal. pero los precios son casi europeos. se paga por una entrada fácilmente 5 Euros y por el plato fuerte 10 Euros (haciendo la conversión) barren mientras los huespedes estan comiendo (?) AGUA en el paseo todo incluido se puede tener bebidas sin o con alcohol. nosotros pedimos solo bebidas sin alcohol. solo hay TRES suministros de agua en todo el hotel para tanto turistas como para empleados. los trabajadores tenia que hacer fila para

I loved the hotel, it has a great variety of colors in its designs, more than a rest and fun trip, it was a trip to connect with the culture and customs of the guajira. The hotel staff was very friendly.
